Venus, don't lay your eyes on me
Venus, don’t lay your eyes on me
Someone like me —
Wicked, wrenched, while woeful
Stupid, sickly, I am anything but sane —
Only stains the light in your dazzling eyes
Still, here breathes a mess of mistakes and madness
O Venus,
I will write a thousand love poems to you
Yet I can’t spare even one for myself
Life has long faded in me
Covered in dirt, a self-pitying screwup curls up in a corner
But once in a while,
It dares to long for your sympathy
Its heart itches for a torch to ignite what faintly remains
Under a hollow shell of fear and frenzy,
Blood still flows, thoughts once glow
Venus, I beg you
Please lay your eyes on me
Someone like me —
Weak, weary, while wandering
Shaky, shackled, I am nothing but scarred —
Only pleas to be glanced by your loving eyes
Here still breathes a mess of mistakes and madness
Feedback:
Any feedback will be greatly appreciated! English is not my native language and writing poems in it is still relatively new for me :)
