You’re my enemy until it’s proven otherwise

Poem

I’ve been misused like that

And I’ve been grinding my teeth

Complaining all day

In pretty makeup

In my green tennis skirt and my buttoned up blouse

.

I’m finessing that dialogue

Where the two songs I listen to answer to eachother

You can be so mean

Sometimes it’s all too much

.

I hear all the layers, drumbeat and bass

You are just a man

And you’re a shark

I hate your straight teeth against me

Those bite marks

Maybe because mine are fucked up

.

I don’t feel like being used again

Such a big man with broad shoulders

Slick hair

But against your mean words

All alone

There’s a heaven opening up

.

He got a premonition about this

Music holds me

I’m sad and shaky, always

The sky is so peach and pink

With lavender clouds

And I do fixate on it.
