Halloween Candy

Poem

Quick jaunt to the store

Overpriced bulk bags

Rolling my eyes

Secretly judging procrastinating shoppers

Back home in a frenzy

Dig out my best bowl

For grubby handed gremlins

Who won’t even notice

A few hours til go time

Time for a few reruns

I don’t even like candy

Don’t care enough to decorate

They’re lucky to get a yard light

The dreaded doorbell

Dogs barking

As if I didn’t hear

Sigh

Lower the recliner

Head to the door

What the!

Why is this bowl empty?

And what are all these wrappers next to my chair?

$#!(!!!
