Best craft beer bars and bottle shops

Hi!

I'm coming to Copenhagen this weekend for a quick visit. I've been here a few times before but it's been quite a few years now. So I'm looking to update myself on the best craft beer bars and stores in the area.

I'm familiar with the various Mikkeller bars but also looking to check out Himmelriget and BRUS this time. Any other cool suggestions?

When it comes to bottle shops, which ones has the best selection? I'm familiar with Mikkeller and Friends in Torvehallerne and Kihoskh but I'm sure there are several others who might be worth checking out. Happy to hear your thoughts on this subject.

Holy Fridge for bottles/cans is pretty good. It’s near Torvehallerne

Plus one for Holy Fridge! Ask if they have some white vermouth for tasting. Amazing quality! https://maps.app.goo.gl/HeiPsoTgSFxbUBnR9

I would not second this. I mean it's an awesome place with lots of good beer. But if you want the high rated beers I would say it's a better chance with Kihoskh, Peders and Himmerriget. It's like recommending Skaal as the best craft beer bar. It's a nice place with lots of beer. But they never have any real amazing, high quality beers.

Most bars in Copenhagen sells cans/bottles for takeaway. So i would say best bars are Himmerriget and Peders. They both sell cans for takeaway. Best bottleshop i would argue i Kihoskh (go down in the basement). Untappd is used by most bars and bottleshops

Thanks for the info! Himmelriget and Kihoskh are on my list, I'll add Peders.

A Good Case has a temporary shop on Istedgade 58 where they sell close-to-expiry (~ 3 months) beers from various Danish breweries at a discount.

Øliver

Strange opening hours but amazing selection that goes way beyond IPA.

Best craft beer bar is a bit difficult, because they have different profiles. Pick the ones you like the best. Most of them offer bottles/cans for takeaway.

When it comes to shops I'd say:

  • Kihoskh: As you state, hands down best selection. They have a few fridges upstairs and a pretty insane selection downstairs with not just lager and IPAs but also sours, barley wines, stouts, belgian beers etc. Part of it is fenced of and kept cold. Downside is that they tend to not put prices on things so sometimes when you pick a beer it can turn out to be in the 90kr category
  • BRUS Bottle shop: Some good beers mostly from To Øl with a few guest beers.
  • Holy Fridge: In theory a nice shop with great beers but it tends to be closed when I want to drink a beer so I usually go to the Kiosk at Nørrebrogade 1, where they also have a few nice beers in the fridge and great if you wanna enjoy a beer on Dronning Louises Bro.
  • Crate: Decent beer selection and close to Nørrebroparken, so good if you wanna hang out in the park.
  • Mikkeller and friends at Stefansgade: Close to Crate but better opening times, but just 1 fridge. Some of the beers are decent but I'm personally not particularly thrilled about Mikkeller.
  • Ølmand: They used to have fantastic beers at eye-watering prices, now it is just good beers at nearly as much eye-watering prices
  • Hos Rune: This is new but rather nice. A fridge specifically with beers canned less than 2 weeks ago, also an interesting selection of polish beers at good prices that he imports himself.
  • People Like Us bottleshop in Amager Centret has some really good deals craft-beer wise, but the selection is small. Positive surprise last time I dropped by.
  • Fish and Beer as many peoples said. It's a strange kind of shop but pretty good and varied selection.
  • Social Beer shop: Haven't been yet, but while it looked nice, it also looked quite expensive.

These days Meny (at least some branches like the one on Borups AllĂŠ) have a surprisingly good selection of craft beer too.

Crate was one of my favorite. Bud sadly it's closed. Edit: i see now it's been reopened as Malt CPH. Still have beer as focus but also whiskey

Check out Skänk in Frederiksberg. Really good selection, mostly on tap. They also do wine.
