Will anyone be interested to buy a cake like this for $100 -$120 in indianapolis?

Yes. Cake Bake goes for $100+ and I’m pretty sure places like The Flying Cupcake get north of $80 easily. If it actually TASTES good? You’d have sales.
I had no idea that Flying Cupcake sold cakes at all. I'm a big fan of their GF/Vegan cupcakes.
Came to ask OP if they'd consider making GF cakes but I don't know that I'd ever want to drop $100 on a cake. At least not and come home,
Do you happen to know if their GF stuff is Celiac safe?
It has been for me but I eat it infrequently (once a year, maybe) and my diet is really clean otherwise.
Understood. Thank you!
They're pretty but I wouldn't spend $100 on a cake ever unless it feeds a huge number of people and I ever actually had a need to feed that many people. Outside of a wedding, I can't think of a reason why i'd need to feed a huge number of people a slice of cake.
Yes people will pay for cakes like that! And I do think the pricing is right. Especially if made from scratch, those cakes take tons of time and effort (and money! Inflation is crazy rn) to make— especially with all those intricate buttercream details and colors. I sell baked goods from home here and people pay those types of prices for similar cakes. However my whole thing is that everything is made from-scratch, as I believe the taste is just as, if not more important than, the look! :) I say go for it!! Just focus on getting the right clientele and charge what you’re worth. If you’re out of someone’s budget— oh well. Custom cakes are a luxury and people will pay for it if they want it!
Everything will be made from scratch. Thank you for appreciating the time and effort that goes into making these kinds of cakes. I used to sell cakes for very cheap thinking no one would buy them and after a few orders, ultimately stop because it didn't feel like it was worth the effort.
Is that fondant?
I would buy one if it was for an occasion, but not to eat because fondant tastes awful to me.
But I am pretty sure you can get your name out there pretty quick if you can do things like this. Good Luck
No. I hate how fondant taste too. It's actually made of buttercream.
Thank you!
The 2nd one is my favorite, I'd buy it for $50. $100+ is a bit much for any cake though in my opinion because I'm a peasant with trashy standards. I'd sooner buy 6 $20 Kroger cakes than one $120 cake.
I could look at it as being smart with money rather than trashy.
I think so, if you find the right clientele. People spend more than that at the Cake Bake Shop, and the cakes don’t even taste great. I know, because I’ve bought a $100+ cake there for my mom’s birthday.
Yes, they’ll do well in Hamilton County. Maybe something like the Fishers Test Kitchen at first to get recognition started?
I do live in fishers. Fisher's test kitchen is a really good idea. Thank you!
That's nice. Like a painting 🎨
Do you make these? Like if I wanted to buy it for my moms birthday for that much.
I would love to, but as of rn I'm not quite ready yet. And for the price I'm trying to charge for these cakes, I don't wanna be in a rush and give a customer less than what they deserve.

I’m to sure how much labor goes into making these, but would you be making any profit at $120?
Yes, but I have to schedule making the cakes in a timely manner and not spend so much time with them. It's kinda tight, especially how much the prices of the raw materials have gone up, but I think with 120, I can make it work. I already did the costing with just about 40% of labor cost which I know is pretty low but with me just starting, might be alright.
I would, definitely. It looks like a piece of art. As long as it tastes good, you’d probably make decent money.

Beautiful cakes
Definitely, these are beautiful cakes. I'd expect to pay more for a cake with that level of detail.
Bro those are gorgeous
I’d say that’s a pretty fair price for the amount of effort there. Beautiful cakes! Honestly you could probably charge more and still sell plenty, especially the third one
Yes
I’m sure people would, they’re very pretty. I follow some local cake bakers on Instagram that sell that way. The aesthetics are good, you would just need to build your following.
These aren't mine but it's the kind of vibe I'm trying to go for. Thank you for responding! I appreciate your input! ❤️
I have a friend that did a cake boss style bday cake for her sister probably 10 years back. She just kept working at it and being more creative, selling on Instagram and Facebook. She just opened her business and has been very successful. It’s crazy because I remember her making her first cake. So good luck and it could evolve into something much bigger than you even think.
