Guess they wanted to add another flavor of CC but boomerangs just don't compete well with other grenades

Only issues I got with those is that unless you hit anything with it, it comes back with no effect, but some hitboxes or past close/medium range doesnt lock onto enemies

It’s just really fun to watch it bounce around, especially with how much you get. I think they’re a lot more enjoyable than IFG’s, and of course, bullets of mercy with them is pretty great

So like, everything the grenade does better with added 35% damage boost?  
Naedocytes is prob the only thing boomerang does better but those things aren't an issue like...ever.

Swarmers, Naedocytes, Bullets of Mercy, Magnetic Shafts, Zhukov damage boost.

Overclock that gives bonus damage to status affected targets

buff, not the weapon.

I like it with the deep core electric damage buff and electric bolts.

Cryo kills them all instantly tho, amazing.  
Most of the times boomerang isn't even locking onto them and goes wild on some other ground enemies instead...

The only thing boomerang is better at is stunning huge groups of macteras, because you have 8 charges against cryos 4, but i dunno..

Like, IFG slows down better and debuffs bugs for your entire team, while doesnt care about number of enemies or size. It slows down even dreadnaughts.  
  
Boomerang is unreliable randomness that doesnt stun any big bugs and I don't know why would you need 9 enemies to stand still? Revives? Pheromones does that better, I believe.  
Damage AND CrowdControl - IFG and Cryo does it better

I also dont get it, like, 8.5sec stun is fine but if you need 9 OR MORE bugs not to move for ~10 seconds, just take IFGs and if you need to burst damage something you got cryos.
Pheromones are also good i guess lol

It ain’t always about min-maxing your build Spider-man, sometimes it’s about sending a message....

for me I use it with the 1,000 and it helps to stun so I can kill a bunch at once, also gets rid of swarmers and the little electric floaters really fast

It also has a very forgiving range when it does lockon if you use slowfield for the tunnel dotty makes it only covers like a little less than half the tunnel but boomerang will hit anything in Dotty's tunnel and it's pretty good with melee use since slowfield doesn't help melee at all cause they can still hit you in it

If you like the damage bonus just use cryo instead since you do 2.5 times more damage to frozen enemies most builds in haz 4-5 can handle small enemies easily and have a burst option for things like dreads or dets so freezing them let's you benefit burst damage options more than slow field and by a lot 

Slow field does what boomerang does and cryo does worse than both cryo fully stops bugs and makes them take way more damage than slow and boomerang can fully stun a hoard of any type of bug for 2 seconds each boomerang (longer if there are less bugs) 

Sure a stun might seem weak but then slow field is just worse than cryo for a smaller damage bonus and the fact that fully immobilized>slowed and on top of that if you or your crew is cornered slow field does the least. Slow field is only "good" if your team isn't in danger, trapped, separated or downed. The amount of times your team is huddled together to all target your slow fielded bugs is only during events like salvage or on dotty a

Yeah, none of this strikes me as better qualities than 30% damage increase for your entire team against any target or as many targets as caught within the field, no matter the number of them.  
  
I play on 4-5 hazard, the sheer number of regular gryphids make boomerang shine even less than it usually does. And it struggles to hit one important target, like warden or mactera, locking onto bunch of normal glyphids...

Slowfield doesn't stun whereas the boomerang does, giving easy kills on stuff like warden and flying enemies can stop a bulky from nuking your team and if a bulky only has like 1-2 bugs with it the bulky will get hit by the stun multiple times wardens usually run away but hitting it with a boomerang stuns all his buffed bugs and him leading to a very easy warden kill, Praetorians stop doing their spit attack when hit by a boomerang it can save a teammate who's trying to escape a hoard since it stops bugs from attacking entirely instead of just slowing down bugs and you get 8 instead of 6 plus if you toss it on accident or miss entirely you don't lose your grenade only issue with it is the fact that it is inconsistent with it's lockon and the ark is a bit weird

Electric grenade does debuffs and slows down ALL the enemies to a crawl, not just seemingly random 9 enemies.   
  
6 chad 30% weakening slowfield nades or  
8 virgin 35 flat damage boomerangs.  
  
I don't get what should point me towards the latter.  
9 jumps not even enough for decent swarmer pack

What's the purpose of the boomerang anyway?
