Merry November Christmas!
i mostly agree, and these men have no idea how bodyweight actually works so they probably think a skinny woman weighs much less than she actually does, but there is a huge raise in things like faceapp these days that i know in at least in a lot of east asian countries you're the fool if you expect your tinder date to look like their profile picture and thats an issue that should be talked about as well

i was rooting for you until you told him you went through his comment history. you fumbled the bag everyone does that but it sounds weird when you say it (clarify im not rooting for him either lol)
Men talk like they don’t reject women based on their weight already. ‘Dad bod’ is seen as something cute and cuddly, but there’s no female equivalent, even if the woman has actually given birth. She’s just called fat and told she’s let herself go. Even women who are nowhere near overweight have been called ‘fat’ by men. Men don’t even know what a certain weight looks like on a woman because there’s so much variation. Two women can weigh exactly the same yet look very differently because of factors like genetics, diet, exercise, fat/muscle ratio, body-type, age, etc.
I feel that dad bod != overweight though. Whenever I see people fawning over dad bods in e.g. celebrities, it usually means good amount of muscle combined with high body fat. Some examples are found here. The most egregious example was when people were fawning over Jason Momoa's dad bod which was literally the body of a body builder during a bulk phase. So the average guy still needs to hit the gym for his dad bod.
I’ve seen men who are obese/morbidly obese describe themselves as having a ‘dad bod’. It’s especially jarring when these men don’t have children. Again, there’s no female equivalent. It’s a huge disparity.
This might be true. But those aren't the people who are seen as cute and cuddly. Those are not the men people have in mind when they say that they like dad bods. In fact, Wikipedia has a good definition:
"Dad bod is a slang term in popular culture referring to a body shape mostly particular to middle-aged men. The phrase has been adopted in U.S. culture to refer to a male who was once particularly lean or fit, but over time has gained an excessive amount of body fat, typically around the waist, leading to a "beer belly". The arms, legs, and chest are usually still toned."
But yeah, you are right that there is no female equivalent.
i agree you gotta be big and strong (not muscular just strong) man for dad bod
I think you’re generalizing. Not all men do this, in the same way that not all women only like 6’4 men. I understand you’re mad at the ass who appears in the post, but you’re kind of doing the same that he is.
The “not all men” argument doesn’t help anyone and is usually used to try to sidestep the point being made. Men do it substantially more than women. If you feel uncomfortable by the other comment, I think you may have some introspection to do.
So what, because you think men do it more often it’s okay for you to make it a stereotype? I’m not advocating for the men who do this, I’m saying it’s best to just not support generalizations.
Enough men do this that it’s not a generalization. It’s something that happens. Claiming “not all men” does nothing but minimize the issue.
You way to be helpful? Quit with the not all men talk and call it out when you see it happening.
It's not a generalization. It means "we have to treat all men as a threat because some are a threat"
