Teddy Bear
I am just a teddy bear
My person loves me
She takes me to tea parties
She tucks me into bed
And bids me the sweetest of dreams
.
Sometimes she drops me
But it's okay she didn't mean to
She also steps on me
But I always bounce back
I'm a tough guy it's fine
.
But now I'm older and so is she
My fur is no longer soft
I lost an eye in the loft
My seams are getting loose
The tea parties have ceased
.
Now she looks at me
My very bestest of friends
She swoops me up in her embrace
I get to come along?
Oh my it's been so long!
.
Without a word she discards me
I watch her face get further
The lid shuts ever so softly
I kept her safe in the dark
Now she abandons me in it
.
No Goodwill donation for me
Who would want a sad Teddy?
Not us, her family seems to agree
I watch their disgusted faces
As they add trash to the heap
.
If there is such a thing as mercy
Please bring garbage day
Let that horrendous metal
Make these shattered insides
Match my ugly outsides
