Dublin Ribbons

Poem

Decades curtailed

By a familiar aroma

Inviting me into a nostalgic

Picturesque memoir of my great grandfather

And his sweet, spiced tobacco pipe

Pearly white hair traces the rim of his

Black velvet fedora, perching his small frame

Deep set laugh lines marry a kind smile

His gruff voice ever bellowing a jovial raspy laugh

Smokey ribbons aswirl from his carved Dublin pipe

I wish I would’ve mentally seized

More details of him.

Time is a merciless thief

But this sweet smelling savor

I hope to never forget.
