The Eclipse

Poem

A carmine moon has fallen from the sky,

And bleeds, as it caresses your horizon.

It has waxed and waned on the backs of evenings, for many an eon,

Yet tonight, as it meets you,

It is full.

Its sanguine glow aches to grow between your trees,

To flow in your oceans and rivers,

And to cascade, humbly,

Down every mountain, cliff, and ravine,

That its lustrous hands can seize.

As its scintillations gaze into your endless earthen depths,

A shadow erupts, eclipsing its molten surface,

And like a parched tide, yearning for the shore,

It swells, and consumes me.

But the shadow is not of darkness,

For it is an impression of you.

A silken silhouette,

Cast through the vastness of space,

To land, tender and colossal,

On a blushing face.

Your blossoming penumbra, pouring over me,

Like the song of your breath against my skin,

And in that moment,

I am full.
