A GOAT is a domesticated mammal (Capra hircus). Closely related to the sheep, there are over 300 distinct breeds. Most are bred for their milk and meat.

In internet terms it means "greatest of all time" in that particular field. Like many people believe that American gymnast Simone Biles is the GOAT of gymnastics.
Outside of the internet it's a farm animal.

Internet speak. If you hear someone say it you know they spend too much time online.

I just tool it to be a old American saying around sports. I seem to remember it in films and things from the 80s.

GOAT - abbreviated from the words 'Greatest Of All Time' is a label usually put on someone or something that is attributed as the greatest of whatever the respected context is.
E.G if you think custard creams are the best biscuits of all time then you would say "Custard creams are the GOAT of biscuits"
Or if you think Micheal Jackson is the greatest artist to have ever lived (he is) then it would go like "MJ is the GOAT of pop"

That didn't go the way I was expecting.
