Bringing an iPhone to FI - thoughts?

Discussion

Looking for feedback since the September update. Would you recommend the switchover? I'll save $30 a month switching but want to make sure it's worth it. I have an iPhone 11.

Not having 5g won't matter on an iPhone 11, so the only real downside is the lack of visual voicemail (you check voicemail in the Fi app instead). As long as you have good TMobile coverage in your area, it seems like it would be worth the savings for you.

I would agree. The voicemail thing is annoying, but frankly after switching I realized I don’t get many voicemails so that’s actually hasn’t been as big of an issue. I have noticed that things get a little weird sometimes when I run the VPN that Google Fi offers, like sometimes it slows data connection considerably and sometimes data won’t even work with it on, but I’m looking through Reddit I haven’t found that as a common complaint for IPhones so maybe it’s an isolated case. You don’t have to use the VPN obviously, so not a big deal.

The only voicemails I get lately are recruiters with jobs that pay half of what I make now. I use my phone very infrequently as a phone... LOL.

I'm waiting for an iPhone 14 Pro right now. I can deal with the few issues.

As a job seeker myself, I can 100% identify with your statement 😅
