Desire
Richness; gold pouring into my veins.
Yet, empty emotions shackle me in chains.
Hopelessness, dejection, and anxiety shroud my view
Though the gates of paradise long stood in queue.
Stone for stone my desire was built.
With blood, tears, and fear.
And arms fueled by longing and guilt.
“A golden age will surely dawn,
With flowers, light and warmth this year.
No longer will I be but a pawn!”
-
Decaying carnation.
A desire complete.
Cracks in the foundation.
Goals obsolete.
No sigh of relief found today.
My eyes are still clouded and grey.
At the foot of my ruin, my will is glued
As another stone is hewed.
