Starry Eyes

I look out to the blackened sky

Even as sleep has left my eye

The words to speak have left my tongue

The call of the void forever strong

We wake in this world alone and scared

Poison and pressure litter the air

But life is a beautiful thing

Though they make it hard to bear

The vastness overloads my mind

My eyes well my teeth grind

Then I remember the One above all

Seeing me alone and small

I steel my jaw and dry my eyes

Then look again to the vast skies

In strength I make a last resolve

Words of thanks upon my tongue
