Prisoner of The Heart
I hold my pain hostage. Like little prisoners in my heart
Prisoners bound by the walls I built to keep them out. Walls I didn’t know were built out of fear, not wisdom.
Fear of being too much or too little. Of being too big or too small. Of being “too” this or “too” that… the fear that I’ll never be able to lay all that I am out on the table and know for certain that that is someone worth loving.
But I’ve come to realize that what scares me the most is that I AM capable of being loved, accepted and understood for who I am and in all my forms.
Because that would mean that all the walls I’ve built around my heart for the past 25 years never protected me from being hurt. They just kept the ones that would love me out and trapped the ones that hurt me in.
