Untitled Poem #37
[The random numbering of the title is a reference to a book I liked in high school]
Sometimes people
In my life
Melt away
Into the night
Trickle like sand
Through the spaces in my hand
Float away and never land
Disappear without a trace
Ships get lost in outer space
Am I so hard to face?
Or do I even matter to them?
Do I even matter to him?
Not a single word
May as well not exist
First time, second and third
Was it something I missed?
Look me in the eyes
Make your goodbyes
Smother it 'til it dies
Make sure I realize
But do it before you're gone
So I know what's going on
And I get the courtesy
Of setting myself free
This time around you
Went silent on me
Knowing that I
Can't do anythng
A missing person
If only from me
I deserve to feel
I deserve to see
It's not always nice
You don't get to be the good guy
And I don't get to know why
You walk away when you decide
And never tell me, keep me tied
Perfect for the next day
You come my way
And decide it's not done
Playing with me is such fun
