To fall into her arms (advice appreciated!)

Poem

When I feel all alone,

You are there for me.

I am never on my own,

You’d never leave.

You whisper in my ear,

“I’m always here.”

You protect me from the spiders,

You protect me from the rain.

You warn me of outsiders,

You shield me from the pain.

Not a word goes unspoken,

Your breath fills the air.

I allow it all to soak in,

Nothing’s dull when you’re there.

We melt together like hot cocoa and whipped cream,

Becoming just one person.

If I’m with you, I feel I’m in a dream,

Reality is uncertain.

When I gaze into your ice blue eyes,

My heart goes pitter patter.

I surrender to your lips,

Cause nothing really matters.

The butterflies in my stomach are trying to leave,

pounding from inside.

You know well I’m easy to deceive,

You tell me I should hide.

You tell me what to do each day,

‘Cause you know what’s best for me.

You dictate what I do and say,

Say it’s the way to be.

You don’t like anyone around us,

You make me look away.

You make a big, huge fuss

And I don’t know what to say.

You tie a ribbon around my throat,

I struggle to try to breathe.

You write me my own suicide note,

Ready to bequeath.

You lite a fire in my lungs,

And stiffens up my stance.

You tell me others hate me tons,

Say I don’t stand a chance.

Your arms grasp me tight,

I try to get away.

Despite my growing fright,

You will always stay.

You whisper in my ear,

“I’m always here.”
