[1014] Pigalicious

Hi all, this is the first 1014 words of a 4800 word short story called Pigalicious. I've just finished rewriting it completely, but I'm still not completely happy with it. Unfortunately I don't have the time currently to crit enough for the excerpt's word length to get up to the plot itself/real potential issues with the piece, but hopefully this establishing scene is enough to let me know whether the writing and tone is engaging / whether there's enough here to leave you wanting to know where it's heading. That said, any and all feedback is appreciated.
