The pain of waiting for your text

Poem

If you sent a text I wish it would say

That you're also attached after that single day

That your heart also aches

To confirm I'm not crazy for feeling this way

Anxious attachment - I hear people say

"You don't know him, you're just running away -

from your own sense of worthlessness, overall shame"

Guess daddy leaving me did break my sense of self

Listening to songs and thinking of you

"Disgusting, you see what codependence will do?"

Feeling my wounds and accepting their ache

In a place where I am chosen, I'm feeling safe

Only in my daydreams, is as close as I get

Would a text help fix my childhood abandonment?

The wait for one shines a light that's blinding

Repeating patterns with unavailable men

Wouldn't it be great if I just forgave my father?

Psychology books add insult to injury

As I stare at my phone

I might just be the one
