Help with Kasa 3-way dimmer

Hi, I'm struggling to wire a 3 way dimmer to my basement. Have done several other Kasa switches including 3 ways and dimmers, but no 3 way dimmers.

Previous arrangement: there's a Lutron switch at the bottom (I didn't set this up and don't have a Lutron hub). At the top there is a normal flip switch. It seems wired wrong - if the lutron switch at the bottom is turned off, the top switch doesn't work.

Top switch:

  • Two brass screws across from each other, travelers going in either side. Black and red wires, bundled together in the box
  • Black screw to single black wire, presumably the load.
  • Neutral bundle unattached
  • Ground wire present.

Bottom switch:

  • Green neutral to single bare neutral in the box.
  • Two red wires coming from the Lutron, I read these were travelers. They go to a white wire and a black wire with a piece of white tape.
  • Black wire on the Lutron attaches to black wire with red tape, presumably the line.
  • In the back of the bundle containing the line, there is a short white wire (neutral?) bundled with a bare wire (ground?)

I put the main Kasa switch in place of the Lutron but nothing happened. I put the satellite Kasa up top, put the bottom Lutron back. The lights work but the satellite switch up top doesn't work. Pretty much at a loss here, does anyone know what to do?
