I've been trying to practice my lighting but I feel like I'm just missing something... I'm using a HDRI and lumen but I feel like what I've done with the colours just isn't working and looks really amateur.

I've followed a guide on youtube which whilst his scene came out stunning mine looks dreadful

I was given a fine by a private company (Euro Car Parks) on what I could only assume is a public road. I've left the exact location in the following link.

This area is essentially a scam set up by the parking company. They own the hotel's tiny car park and have a guard there all day. The second you leave your car to check in (And ask the staff where the hidden car park is which is located behind an unmarked road gate) you will be given a ticket.

I've obviously submitted an appeal but this company is well known for never cancelling fines. They also say that once I pay "appeals may not be accepted" but they'll claim it could take 28 days for them to reply which means I will get a fail to pay

I've tried the short intro but at the start it is very focused on simply memorising characters

Does the intermediate stage actually help you speak and listen?

One issue I've had with learning Chinese is knowing the words being said but not actually being sure of what is being said due to how repeated the sounds are in Chinese.

On another note, I used Hello Chinese and towards the end of that programme I got really fed up with it because it wanted me to memorise obscure long sentences with pretty complex word order and structure. I struggled with these since I didn't really understand the logic/grammar and there is no long explainer audio clips at this stage.

I am doing things wrong?

In Maya I can press Ctrl + B and bevel/chamfer and edge and the configuration box will appear.

Is this sort of workflow not possible in Max without binds? I feel like I am being forced to use the tiny boxes in the UI.

And is there any way to have that configuration box always appear?

Does anyone know more about this? From what I heard public school teaching is pretty laid back with lots of between-class time or just observing another person's class.

Salary is NT$48,000 with some other comically small reimbursements available and work 8 hours over 5 days.

Even for words I know extremely well I will often pronounce them with the wrong tone as soon as speak naturally

Even when saying just a basic word like 再见 I would have really force myself to use the aggressive double 4th tone rather than the cheery English tone which would sound more like a 2nd and 1st tone

I am just checking out the free train but I noticed the male voice saying 普通话 but the "pu" sound he makes is very English sounding when.

a "puh" sound, not a "poo" sound

Is this not just training you to speak with a heavy English accent, in the same way, Chinese people often pronounce the "uh" sounds as an "oo" sound in words like "good", “door", etc

I've heard that nailing pronunciation really improves your listening. The guy recommended just grinding out the Pinyin chart - recording myself attempting the pronunciation and checking it(With audio clips from the pinyin chart). Then doing this every day for around a month.

Has anyone else had success with his method or is there a better approach?

Likewise, did you find it significantly improve your listening ability?

I've been trying to learn Chinese using Lingodeer but I find it nearly impossible to remember any of the words outside of the lessons.

For example, if someone said to me "是夏天了" that is a sentence I would be able to understand if I was currently in a weather/season related lesson but outside of that I just have this feeling of recognition but no clue what was actually said

Is this a normal process that I will overcome in time? Or should I just use something like Pimsleur instead?

My motivation for learning is just talking with my Chinese friends so I'd rather focus on being able to comprehend and speak basic spoken sentences than being able to read basic sentences
