Hello,

I have recently been thinking about what sort of breath gain people play it, since I have been unsure about the ideal breath gain for my EWI USB. I currently have it set quite low at 28 (max is 128) and while this gives me great expressive and dynamic range, it is also very tiring I find, at least on patches that support full dynamic range, like stuff on my VL-70m. There are of course patches, mainly on other synths of mine, that are super easily to play even with high gain due to weak dynamic range.

Now im not sure if I need to just get better at breath work or whether I should turn it down. I have been thinking the former is more ideal. My breath is not yet very strong, focused o

Hi,

I’ve been using a Scarlett 18i8 gen 1 but it’s drivers are just terrible on windows 11, which is what I use. My previous 4 input Scarlett gen 3 also had driver issues (since this is focusrite we are talking about) but it’s even worse on this, to the point that a switch is necessary.

8 inputs is ideal, since im currently using 3 to 4 stereo synths (Yamaha VL-70m, Roland Sound Canvas 8850, Roland U-220 and (sometimes) Alesis D4 for those curious) but may add more in the future. The Behringer UMC 1820 looks very appealing and has a good price, but I want to make sure it’s drivers are good for windows 11. I hear it can also have its inputs extended, which might be of use for me in the futu

Hi,

I am somehow who has never played this game and never intends to, but am part of a small group of people that is specifically a fan of the god tier soundtrack and have been listening to it consistently for quite a few years now, which I did via the means of the soundtrack releases.

However. ever since the 6th volume of the soundtrack released a few years back, I see that no more music has been released officially, aside from perhaps more character songs or something which I don't really follow.

I have two questions:

  1. Why is this? Is this because the game is dying and thus interest in the soundtrack is too?

  2. How can I listen to any of the music created for the game post that wh

Hello,

I recently acquired an EWI 4000s and discovered that this thing has a glide plate (by which I mean the metal strip(s) to the side of the octave rollers just to clarify.)

This got me thinking if my EWI USB might also have something like this, which I have been using for a year without knowing about such a feature. I took a look at the bottom of it, and there is one strip on the left side of the octave roller (it is on both sides like the 4000s), but it does not seem to do anything when touched.I also do not see any settings on the Akai EWI USB Control app concerning this feature.

Therefore, I assume it does not exist and this one strip serves some other purpose that I am not aware

Hello,

I recently discovered that one can link a tracks volume and pan controls to send (cc7 - volume) and (cc (forgot the number) - pan) midi data to one's midi channel of choice. This is very useful if I have a bunch of midi channels and only one audio channel, as I can then still mix volume levels despite only having one channel producing audio. This is especially useful when working with mid files that were designed to be played through a general midi synthesizer like a sound canvas module.

However, I noticed that Reaper seems to automatically set 0 on the volume fader to equal the value 127 for CC7 Volume, which is the maximum value. I would prefer if the maximum value of the fader eq

Hi,

I finally acquired an EWI 4000s after having started on the EWI usb and want to get it set up soon. My current question is whether or not the playing parameters (breath resistance and apparently also glide and bend stuff, the latter of which I don’t recall being able to adjust on the USB) can be adjusted via software or if it’s only via those tiny knobs on the actual synth.

Ideally I would like my 4000s to play exactly like my EWI USB in terms of breath resistance and everything else. I think I had breath resistance set to quite high at 64 or so the EWI USB editor, but I’m not seeing such parameters on the editors for the 4000s, which seem to focus solely on editing the internal synth

Hello Windsynth community,

I quite like the sounds on the JV 1080 / XV 5080 VSTs (they are basically the same) but have not had much success setting up patches to respond well to wind controller. I know Patchman made a bank for the hardware 1080, but that does not seem to work for the VST, so its up to me to figure out how to do it myself.

I have managed to set up wind controller patches on some other synths and libraries but this one has quite the complicated layout I must say.

Any comments would be appreciated.

Hi, I am a 21 year old male who has been experiencing chronic fatigue since about the 8th grade, and it has progressively gotten worse and worse. Recently I had to take a break from University because of it, which I’m currently on, though things have just been getting worse during this time. Since it began in 8th grade, I have been to countless doctors and basically ruled out almost every medical condition I can think of. I did an extensive write up about that on ask doctors, reading through it before continuing with this post is probably a good idea: https://www.reddit.com/r/AskDocs/s/qsCXExVkTg

If you check some of the replies, you will see some very typical ones asking me for my mental

Hello,

I am a 21 year old white male, am 174cm tall and weigh about 56kg. I have zero documented medical conditions aside from a deviated nasal septum, which does not seem to cause any breathing issues. I take no medications but do take vitamins every day at safe and conservative doses. I have never taken any drugs and do not drink. I don't even consume caffeine at the moment. I don't have any allergies.

About four or five years ago, I suddenly went from being a fairly high energy person to slowly getting more and more tired and fatigued, an issue which has now gotten to the point where I needed to take a year off university because I simply felt too ill to do what was required of me, eve

Hello fellow clarinet players,

I picked up a b flat clarinet about 5 months ago, maybe even more, and have basically made zero progress this entire time. I have no money for lessons (am just barely able to rent my Buffet Crampon E12F clarinet,) and thought online resources would be enough to learn, but unfortunately they are not proving very helpful aside from the fingering charts.

The main issue is that basically every embouchure video says something different from the previous, meaning the thing I was just taught is immediately denounced as wrong by the next person. As such, it seems I have to figure out what works well on my own, but the issue is that I am having no success doing so. F
