I served in the army. I was "Hueyvonics", 68F, serving in the Arkansas national guard, D Co. 2/135 LUH, AVUM platoon, back in the last century. For the past year, I was staying at a veterans shelter in Worcester MA.

They recently kicked out everyone who was staying there under an Elective Services Grant. Literally put them on the street. A number of staff have quit in protest, and they're hiding behind their reputation of 35 years.

The first of the purge included myself and a 71 year old Vietnam combat veteran. The 71 year old also has the early stages of Alzheimer's, and still can't fully understand why he was thrown out. As for myself, I ended up in a psychiatric hospital for three weeks

The Elective Services Grant (ESG) is a program through the VA that helps pay for your stay in a shelter if you served in the reserves. The grant usually last a year, and you have to reapply each year. By law, you cannot be thrown out if this grant money isn't available. At least not without another place to go.

Lost and found

Discussions and Rants

Not sure if this'll work, but it's worth a shot. I know what it's like to lose something.

I found a charger cord in Institute park. If you or someone you know lost one today, message me with a description, and if it's you, I can give it back or dead drop it for you.

The little things can pile on a bad day, and it's already Monday, so if I can do my part to help someone have a happy week I'm happy to.

I'm sitting here, just coming in from outside. Having grown up in the north, but spending over half my life in the south, chilled to the bone for the first time in so very long. I have missed this shiver.
