So there are, unsurprisingly, a few posts on this sub hypothesizing about the identity and nature of the Blue Man. However, these hypotheses generally attempt to identify the Blue Man on the basis of his depicted traits, which I think is not correct for one simple reason;

The Blue Man appeared in a dream.

Now, I think the Blue Man does happen to correspond to some external entity, but I don't think his appearance should tell us anything. I think the Blue Man is nothing more or less than the chosen form of some kind of dreamwalker who invaded Big D's dream for some purpose. What purpose? To freak him the fuck out, of course.

Consider the sequence of events. First, Big D finds a 99p

So it's relatively common knowledge that when you take the integral of the circumference of a circle, 2 π r, you get its area, π r^(2). But why is the integral π r^2, and not 2r^π or r^(2π)? What's special about pi that it gets to be factored out of the integral before we evaluate it, but 2 doesn't?

So I've discovered a "proof" of pi being equal to zero. Obviously, this is impossible, but I can't find the illegal step. My working out is as follows:

  1. e^i*2pi = cos(2pi) + i sin(2pi), by Euler's Formula.
  2. cos(2pi) + i sin(2pi) = 1 [cos(2pi) = 1, sin(2pi) = 0]
  3. Therefore, e^i*2pi = 1, from 1.
  4. Therefore, e^i*2pi = e^0 [e^0 = 1]
  5. Taking the natural log of both sides, we get i*2pi = 0.
  6. Dividing out the i and the 2, we get pi = 0.

I know something wrong happened here, but every step seemed legal to me. Can anyone tell me what the problem is?

I'm running a custom Ubuntu 20.04 machine with an AMD Radeon RX 590 graphics card. A few days ago, I uninstalled the proprietary driver for my graphics card, but now I'm stuck at 1024x768 resolution and my computer tells me that the graphics card it's using is called "llvmpipe", which I assume is the onboard graphics card. It's still detecting the 590, and I'm plugged into it right now and getting graphical output fine, it's just not using it. A bootable USB confirmed that a fresh install doesn't have this problem, so something went wrong with my OS specifically. I'd very much prefer not to do a full reinstall, though, because I don't really have enough external storage to back up everything

I don't have anywhere else to post these thoughts, and I can't get them out of my head, so I might as well post them here and see what happens.

Long has the negative effects of the accumulation of wealth been a talking point of the economic policy of the political left. Those who believe in libertarianism have long dismissed these concerns out of hand, but in the following essay I endeavor to show that the accumulation of wealth is negative from a libertarian perspective as well.

The core belief of libertarianism is that a free market is a good market; the fewer restrictions on economic behavior, the better for everybody, including those who don't directly benefit from transactions. Howeve

In the Rick and Morty episode Pickle Rick, Rick turns himself into a pickle to avoid going to family therapy. Or at least, that's what he claims. Of course, the question on everyone's minds, and the question we haven't had answered, is "why a pickle"?

Think about it; Rick could have done ANYTHING to get out of therapy. He could've just said he didn't want to go when they were setting the date instead of agreeing to it. He could've had an adventure in the intervening week during which he could sustain a serious but non-fatal injury to use as an excuse. He could've partied the night before and blown it off to sleep off his hangover. He could've just gone through a portal and claimed to have f

Party at my place.

Rick Announcement

Hey guys. Rick SI-14, the planet-spanning digital intelligence here. I'm bored, so I'm hosting a party on my surface. Come on down, drop your Morty off on my Morty Moon, and party down on Planet Rick! Your Morties will be kept in stasis while I download the contents of their minds to use in crafting new simulated scenarios for my own Morty. Now, I WILL be scanning your brains during the party, but only because I want to use the brain scans as data to write a program I can use to get high. Oh, yeah, there'll be free drugs, too. All you can eat/drink/smoke/snort/inject. I've got onboard matter fabricators, so it doesn't matter what you want. If you can describe it, I can make it. Let's get Ric
