So I've finally figured out RouterOS switching enough to actually use it.

Config

Everything about the config works as expected. LAGs pass traffic, access ports work as access ports, and trunk ports work as trunks shoot.

The only thing that doesn't work is the local IPs. When vlan-filtering=yes, the switch IP addresses quit responding. Note that I'm not using this for routing, just some things like DHCP relaying, etc.

I feel like it's something fairly simple and I just need to add something more to the VLAN filters, but I've tried a few combos and nothing works.

Hopefully someone can provide some insight. I've been fighting with switching

So this weekend I went back to my childhood home and found my original MacLab. So many good times were had setting up AppleTalk, messing around with Filemaker Pro, Hypercard, playing Dungeons of Doom, Transylvania, etc.

Somewhere I have a few more old Performas, LC, and at least a Mac Plus or two.

Note that I am already running IPMI tool to make it so the board doesn't fill up the event log anymore.

Since upgrading to the latest BIOS for my motherboard (X10SRH) and 6.7, vCenter has been screaming every 30 seconds about a FAN Failure.

Like I said above, I'm already using ipmitool, and the board itself doesn't complain anymore. Instead of a full event log like before, it's empty.

It has something to do with the VMWare CIM provider still thinking the threshold is 1000RPM.

At this point, if I can't adjust the threshold in VMWare, I'd rather just kill the whole alert. There's enough damned fans in that server t

I guess this may be a well doh moment for some of you, but for me, it was a surprise.

I'm a person that has a LOT of hard drives. I was buying six to eight drives a year from 2010 until 2016, and since then I've doubled that at least. And that's just for personal use. For business, it's way more.

After a particular bad run of WD Reds, which 50% ended up getting RMAd, I swore off those drives and started buying exclusively Seagates. I was feeling VERY burned by so many RMAs, so I decided to buy a large batch of Seagate Enterprise drives. More than anything, the idea of a 5 year warranty was extremely attractive.

The drives have been great. Where I was dealing with a 20% failure r

I've been playing around with GlusterFS and oVirt again on my NUC cluster (three nodes). I've got it all installed, the storage domain up and running, and the other hosts added to the Engine.

They seem to have changed some steps around, and the "Installing additional nodes" from the documentation here seems to not be the way to do it anymore.

Running the "--deploy" again on the additional hosts mentions:

  • Setup of additional hosts using this software is not allowed anymore. Please use the engine web interface to deploy any additional hosts

Then the next time:

  • This host is already connected to a storage domain named hos

Is there any way to automatically add new L2TP connections to an interface list?

As a recent convert, it seems like the best way to mimic zones is by the use of interface lists and jumps. And so far this is working great.

The problem is L2TP connections are transient. When they connect, they need to manually be added to the trusted list. And when they go down, I end up with an undefined interface in the list. Bringing the connection back up starts a new interface rather than reclaiming the old.

I'm definitely new in the RouterOS world, so if there is something super obvious I'm missing, I apologize.
