Hold down CMD+Option, and then press down with two fingers UNTIL THE TRACKPAD CLICKS, and zoom will do a great job of zooming the way you move your fingers: if you pinch up and down, it will zoom vertically. If you pinch side-to-side, it will zoom horizontally. It becomes super-intuitive, and I don't know why it's not the default.

Posting this because every time I have to intensive work in melodyne, I go through hell trying to remember/google how to get zoom to work on just one axis. Maybe I am the only one with this problem, but I swear the first 30 pages of Google results are "how to zoom both horizontally and vertically at the same time", when what I want is how to do one or the other,

Hi all,

The volume knob on my old Frankenstrat basically just spins freely on the post, at this point, unless I bear down hard.

I know I can get a new plastic knob for pennies, but this particular set of electronics has aged from white into a particular shade of bone/cream that just so happens to exactly match the finish of the beat-up old body it's on, and I would really like to keep the old plastic and the pots. I would ideally like to find a solution that is tidy, that keeps all the current hardware, and that is serviceable long-term.

I read a suggestion online of cutting out little squares of metal, like from a soup can, and shoving them in the slot between the pot shaft, to make a

r/ExNoContact•

I see a lot of posts on this sub of people agonizing over whether they are being too "harsh", or whether they are shutting off any possibility of reconciliation if they cut lines of contact with their ex, or whether it will somehow look bad, or something.

If you are the dumper, these can be fair considerations. When you dump someone, you take all of the power in the relationship away from the dumpee, and for yourself. And sometimes, that is the right thing to do. Sometimes it is even the kind thing to do, in a way. But it is still deciding for both of you that you know best, and that you are kicking your partner off the team that makes major life-decisions for both of you, and you're going

I have been trying to learn more about the experience of using a Seaboard without a computer. I get that I will need to do config type stuff in some kind of computer-ish thing, and I can live with that, and I appreciate that the ROLI software products and other softsynths and apps are probably the best way to get the most out of the brilliant control surface. Nevertheless, I would ideally like to have the ability to play that instrument without a computer present (It's weird and I shouldn't be that way, I know-- I just find myself more musically-productive without a computer screen in sight).

It sounds like any of the Seaboards can be set up to play well with some of my hardware synths tha

This probably won't be an especially popular post, but I need to get it out of my system after seeing so much Lost stuff on reddit.

I know I'm way behind the times, but I've finally started watching Lost on Netflix based on a ton of recommendations (not least of them on reddit). I'm about halfway through season 2. Note that this is not an "I HATE LOST" post. I don't hate it. A lot of it is outstanding, especially the acting, casting, and production-value. There has been enough good to keep me watching, so far.

But this is a post about some things that I really don't like, and that really disappoint me about the recommendations from smart people. So if I dwell on the bad and not on

  • Your title sucks. This is especially true of needlessly vague titles, especially if they are re-posts. Examples: "typical redditor", "to pretty much every post on reddit...", "thought of this on the bus today...", "what I think of...", and the worst offender of all: "Nailed it". I realize vague or witty titles can be a clever lead-in, and I don't downvote just for a vague title, nor just for a re-post, but if you waste my time and bandwidth with a shitty title for some generic internet oldie, I downvote. Especially if I am redditing on a mobile app that lacks the "hide" feature, it's the only way I can mark these submissions as read.

Here's the description of what used to be one of the best subreddits:

Maybe not WTF, offbeat, or whatever... just fucking creepy. Possible topics include old photographs, broken dolls, scary clowns, unsolved murders, and biological anomalies.

r/creepy was a treasure-trove of the genuinely weird and unsettling. Now it's basically entirely horror-themed artwork and photoshops, mostly not very creepy at all, more mawkish and silly, like heavy-metal album covers. It's become a sideways way for artists to submit their work instead of r/pics.

Since I guess that most of the subscribers are part of the community of submitters, I'm pretty sure nobody cares that I don't like it anymore. It's

I know this is a little weird as an AmA topic but I had a really hard time finding good user reviews/experiences before I took the plunge. Hoping this might help answer some questions for others. I will be checking in off and on.

For starters, the only place beginners should be going to for how-to info is here:

Rooting is fairly easy for moderately competent instruction-followers if you read the whole page through first and then follow all steps exactly.

A quick overview of my experience so far:
