TPK

The Pale King

I really like DFW’s short story collections and his first novel I’m very interested in purchasing TPK but worried that it won’t be there as much as his work was before- is the pale king loosely a story or just multiple drafts of one or multiple ?

Do you guys recommended reading it or is it just a DFW insight into how he wrote ?

Can you guys recommend movies that don’t involve white people as the main focus of gay/queer movies and also that isn’t moonlight!

Looking to watch a POC queer/gay movie !

Just seen TPFWWM in theaters last night extremely high and realized how beautiful the soundtrack for that film is, it truly carries the entire film; it’s so subtle and correct, wouldn’t say less of a perfect soundtrack other than wish it was a bit louder but I guess it’s the detail most important that goes unnoticed

Has anyone read

Finnegans Wake

Ulysses and Finnegans Wake together ?

Currently reading Ulysses throughout the day and FW at night; read somewhere that they both compliment each other as a duology

Discussion

i just finished SU for the first time- i watched episodes from when i was a kid but this was the official first time as a 21 year old watching it from start to end- and i cried so much throughout the show - i’ve never experienced such love like this- i just want to say wow and grateful that there’s a community behind this show and that there’s always an opportunity to change.

lolita

Lolita

i feel like lolita would’ve been a better novel if it utilized a multi narrative structure instead of one; w one narrator takes away some of the major explorations of a full scoped novel instead of a possible, theorized novel

since the beginning of this year it feels like i’ve been living in a david lynch film - like completely enthralled and devastating yet hopeful- ever since watching inland empire it made me wonder if his films leave off a kind of prophecy afterwards like how IE played out- kinda spooky but i’ve noticed that with his films, that they play out as kind of real life living- idk i’m thinking if most of his watchers feel the same way or is it just me paying too much attention to a small assertion

so i got back together w my bf of 7 months but i knew the reason why he wanted to get back together was disingenuous- and he was lying to himself that he wanted to be in a relationship, and i ended up going for it, but we broke up on valentine’s day and now im stuck on him. this our second time breaking up so the emotions of despair is all out of the picture, im feeling stuck on him in particular, i just want to be with him, - last night i hooked up w a guy and it was good but it sucked cause i just want to do those things with him- i downloaded dating apps to also occupy my mind w the opportunity of people being interested in me, i haven’t a clue why im so stuck on him, maybe it was because

Just finished watching IE last night and was wondering if your guys life are like this too- like you see your life being played in front of you and you are living and acting in it eternally in different modes of reality; i know David Lynch practiced transcendental mediation which in how i meditate can answer most of my questions for me but this movie is about the return and consistency with reality being interpreted by all walls of existence.

like how it was a movie about a movie about a tv show about a viewer about a curse, etc... — what were your guys thoughts on IE?

also perhaps my favorite lynch film. i watched it with TPFWWM and both movies really overlap in scenes and shots- which

it’s been less than a day and i want to download a dating app: i feel like it’s fine to do but i heard it’s not ? lowkey need opinions on that- cause i feel so ready to look and be with someone, but at the same time that might be the stages of grief talking and i genuinely don’t know.
