I'm in north Norway right now at a fishing plant, cutting fish tongues. And I have been thinking about how having a fish industry in your republic would be a great way to get meat early game. It could be so that mappers could place fish resources in the water so fishing boats has to go to a stream for example to find fish. The amount of fish can vary depending on the season. They could also be affected by weather (if that feature ever comes) the fishing boats has to send them to a fish processing plant to be made into meat.

I miss working on my republic, but I'll just have to wait to get home. In the meantime I'll just think about shit that would be cool to have in game.
