I posted a month ago "odds worse than winning the powerball" and a lot has happened since then that I'm still figuring out.

Short recap; my wife and I are both 41, we have two girls 9 and 12. Wife was diagnosed with Stage 3c colorectal cancer jan 2nd this year. She was going through the TNT method, doing radiation into chemo, where she is now 4 cycles in. A month ago was my colonoscopy, where I was told by the GI doc that I had a little over 4cm villous mass that appeared to be a malignant tumor, but he took biopsies to be sure. He ordered a CT that same day since there was a slot open, the CT showed large masses on my liver and 1 tiny one on my lungs. The doctor was talking about putting

My wife and I are 41, in January she was diagnosed with Stage3c colorectal cancer from a 9cm mass, it's close enough to the rectum they're doing the TNT method of radiation first, then chemo (now), and followed by surgery at the end.

When going to a lot of these visits I started thinking that "a lot of these warnings applied to me as well, I should get checked." So yesterday I got a colonoscopy, where they found a 4cm mass in my sigmoid. They had a CT slot the same day so I did that as well. Today they found 2 nodes in my liver (4cm x 4cm for the largest one) and one tiny one in my lungs.

I have a surgical consult tomorrow morning at 7:30am, the surgeon saw my case and is coming in early

I'm trying to pick my faction and have some heavy contenders, but I loathe the idea of buying and learning an army that is about to have it's rules replaced or it's models completely changed around. My hobby time is very limited (50+ hr work, 2 kids in sports, etc).

In order of my personal priority I'm looking for a faction that has:

  1. Rules/book in the last year (or one that's upcoming, i'll take a while to paint my army)
  2. Cow/minotaur style models in the army. So far I've found:
    1. Lumineth - Alarith/avalenor
    2. Helsmiths - Dominator, bull centaurs, Urak Taar
    3. Slaves - Ogroids
    4. Honorable "cow" the sick looking Ossiarch undead horses
    5. Ogor - Stone horns (not a co

Reddit is running an automated AI that previously was flagging comments to be reviewed by mods. Now it seems like it's automatically removing comments as "threatening violence."

In most other subreddits they'd probably be right, but mma training has a way of saying "you need to grab her neck and put your weight on until you're in a position to throw elbows" and it not be domestic violence related.

I approve the comment and reverse the removal when I see them. If you think something has been unfairly removed send us a modmail and know that it's probably reddit itself and not the r/MMA_Academy mods. Unless you're doxxing, spamming, suggesting illegal advice (telling a kid to bring a knife t

We've been growing as a community as a community again, but unfortunately that means more and more spam/racism/etc content that has to be removed. Mod queue is getting busier and it's becoming annoying with how few mods we have.

If you're active on this sub and want to be a mod let me know and I'll check out your history.

You must be active on this sub. You must be active in mma fighting as either a coach, fighter, or retired fighter. I will not approve anyone who mods a bunch of other subs, we don't like super mods.

Our main removal is spam and content unrelated to training or blatant racism/doxxing. We let user votes determine everything else. If you fit this style of modding leave a

It's the time of year when we start getting mod mail about companies that are wanting us to review or use affiliate links to sell stuff to you guys. We do not allow affiliate links on this subreddit and that includes from the Mod team.

The mod team does not partner with any sellers and does not receive gifts or money for reviews or preference on this sub. If you see someone spamming links to products with affiliate link codes please report it so we can remove it.

We allow gear reviews on the sub, feel free to love whatever gear you want and post links to it as long as they're not affiliate links.

We allow posts about sales on the sub, if you see a great deal feel free to post it.

I was cleaning up the report queue and noticed I'm the only active mod for the sub. Which is bad news if anything happens to me or I get bored of reddit. I need some more mods for this sub.

Right now we only get a handful of reports a week, usually about spam videos or weird onlyfans bots.

If you want to join up I'm going to prioritize anyone who's had an MMA fight. If you mod a lot of other subs then I probably wont approve you, I'm not a fan of super-mods.

Leave a comment below if you're interested.

Posting some regularly asked questions here so we can direct new members to some common answers.

Q: How do I start?

A: Joining a gym is the best way to start. Go on your gym's website and look at their class schedule. Start slow and slowly build up to training 5-6 days a week.

Q: How do I find the right gym?

A: Look for gyms that have active fighters in them. Almost every legitimate gym will let you try it out for a class or a week for free before you sign up. Try all the ones close to you, then make a decision.

Q: How can I tell a good gym from a bad one?

A: Good gyms have active fighters and regular sparring. They will have actual MMA classes in their schedule.

Q: How do I find a

I've been tasked with recording and live streaming an amateur kickboxing/mma event. This next event is in October this year so I need to have everything ready to go by then. The venue has a dedicated network I can use for internet access that isn't used by guests.

There will be 2-3 events per year, so I need equipment that isn't going to be replaced going forward. My budget is $8,000.

My current plan is to use my personal computer running Vmix and a blackmagic quad hdmi input. I'll have two cameras on the corners of the ring for alternate angles. One camera will also be dual-purposed to follow fighters walking into the ring. The cameras will be connected with hollyland hdmi wireless bridge

The mod team has been approached twice now from brands that would like to post their black friday deals on the subreddit. As a rule we don't allow commercial links (they're usually spam that gets sent everywhere). I'm curious what your opinion is on allowing these posts. We're never going to allow affiliate links or spam.

Let us know which option you prefer

  1. We keep all commercial links off this subreddit (current policy)
  2. We setup a deal thread, similar to the monthly Q&A thread about gear and allow comment posts from anyone who finds a deal. (affiliate links will be removed)
  3. We allow brands to make their own posts as long as it's not spammed to multiple subreddits.
  4. We do a
