Pre-ramble:

This is just a collection of thoughts and personal opinions on two bits of hardware that do very similar things. For context, I've been a user of TrackIR 5 with the Proclip since... AC was a thing. Back when we had hack it with python scripts and VJoy to make it work in game. So, 6 years or so as a dedicated TrackIR user?

For contrast, I've only picked up Tobii 5 in the last week, so I'm still tweaking settings, learning what works in AC and what may or may not translate as well in the Persistent Universe.

Pros:

First and most obvious, Tobii provides nearly 100% freedom of personal movement. It connects to the bottom of your monitor and... that's it. No wires, no nee

Was wondering if anyone playing from the U.S. has had issues with AT&T fiber and being unable to play the game.

I've recently switched to to AT&T fiber and have since been unable to play at all. Getting disconnected within 5 minutes or less, with 100% reproducible results. I've gone through all the usual steps, rebooting router, port forwarding on/off, vpn on/off, running packet / speed / ping tests, all drivers up to date, etc. without success or insight into what may be causing the issue.

I can't even say for certain if it IS an issue with my new ISP, but that's the only thing that has changed recently on my end and I've never had a reproducible technical problem since the clos

Not sure if this has been answered or not, but for ships with retractable hangars, like the Carrack or the 890, will the player be able to open/close those hangars remotely (from the Pisces for example) or is some poor sap going to have to stay onboard to operate the hangar doors while the rest of the gang goes off on adventures?

First off, this may very well be what they are going for in 3.7/3.8. If so, awesome.

In my opinion the change in ship behavior between space travel and atmospheric flight in a gravity well should not be dictated by a blanket change in thruster behavior based on the proximity to a planetary body, but instead be the result of a calculation based on the parameters of that body, available thruster strength, atmospheric density or drag, lift, and gravitational strength.

Unlike other flight sims that only have to deal with the conditions of a single planet, SC is trying to recreate at least a sim-lite experience in multiple planetary conditions. To properly impart this feeling to the player,

Asus MB not posting

Troubleshooting

Getting qcode 00 and the cpu_led stays lit when trying to boot.

Parts list:

https://pcpartpicker.com/list/GNNQQZ

(though the 840 evo is 1tb, I couldn't find that on part picker for some reason)

Old build with a new (about a month) MB.

Full disclosure: I had to replace my original MB because I made the fatal error of applying thermal paste directly above the MB socket. Don't beer and thermal paste. Especially if you are trying out a new paste that miiiight just be a little more runny than you are used to.

So, after many bent pins and thermal paste everywhere, I just gave up and replaced the MB.

Installation of the new (not used or refurbished) Asus went without incident, and despite

Does anyone have a good starting point to combine two analogue axis into a single axis? Example being using two analogue toe breaks to act as a single DoF?

Use case: I'd like to map my vertical thrust in Elite: Dangerous to my toe breaks, but the game only allows a single analogue axis or separate digital inputs. Ideally, I'd like analogue upward vertical thrust on one axis and downward on the other, where neither toe break being used = zero input.

Thanks in advance for any input.

###Build Help/Ready:

Have you read the sidebar and rules? (Please do)

Yes

Use for this build:

Almost exclusively gaming for this rig, looking to (eventually) move into 4k and possibly VR

If gaming, what kind of performance are you looking for? (Screen resolution, FPS, game settings)

FPS is priority one, with "Ultra" settings close behind and a bit more important to me than 4k, but 4k with high FPS/graphical settings is the eventual end goal. (I'm a sucker for eye-candy, what can I say?)

Budget (ballpark):

I'd like to keep it >$400, though if a more extensive rebuild is in the cards, I'm more than willing to go higher.
