Some of you might remember Genius of Sappheiros - it was one of best known JRPG fangames in earlier fandom stages; now it's getting a Steam release on Oct 31:

It's a very solid game worth checking out if you're into JRPGs and don't mind high difficulty and plot centered around original characters; fully completing it might take over 100 hours. If you've already played this game, you still might be interested in this release - it's based on the Vita version, which has new content previously unavailable on PC.

Unfortunately, it's available in Japanese only; earlier PC versions had fanmade translation pa

For people unfamiliar with roguelikes: Angband is a major roguelike based on Tolkien's works and is known for spawning many variants, several of which ended up spawning variants of their own. Hengband is one of its variants that adds many new races, classes and quests; it is one of most popular *band variants in Japan. The game I've found is built further upon Hengband, changing the theme to Touhou Project.

The world map is changed to more or less resemble Gensoukyou; locations like Human Village and Roads of Former Hell are 'towns' where you can receive quests and buy supplies, and there are Touhou dungeons like Forest of Magic or the Scarlet Devil Mansion. The main dungeon you'll be explo

After failing with several magic users, I switched to more durable melee builds. This one looks promising - I found Four Winds in the Lair (incidentally, my last most successful attempt at this build also found Four Winds in Lair), cleared Shoals and Snake Pit and received 3 bone dragons from Yredelemnul. I'm a bit concerned about my supply of healing potions - didn't find many on this run, and I'm down to 3 heal wounds/curing. Thinking of doing Elven Halls or Vaults up to level 4 next - a bit worried about Vaults, since my last most successful Yredelemnul fighter lost several minions to the deep trolls with Rapid Deconstruction.

I used to play Dungeon Crawl years ago, but never ascended. Recently, I came back, and after quite a few attempts (ranging from early deaths by orc packs on D: 3 to several deaths in Zot) managed to get my first ascension.

I originally planned to worship Okawaru, but after getting to D:8 with no Oka altar in sight, I've decided to follow Gozag. Found an eveningstar early on and switched skill training from Axes to Maces & Flails - but eventually switched back after getting the mithril axe. Since Axes and Maces cross-train, I figured I might as well switch skill training, since I already had skill points and both weapons seemed better than my curren

So I'm doing a second playthrough of NieR: Automata, and I've noticed a small detail in the Emil's Memories sidequest that I haven't seen mentioned here yet.

At the end of the quest, when Emil gives 2B the Lunar Tear, she responds with "...Thank you.". This might seem fairly minor, but, as noted by Anemone, 2B doesn't frequently express gratitude - and, if I remember correctly, most (if not all) of the other moments she says "Thanks" in the game involve 9S, in one way or another.

On my first playthrough, I didn't think much about this line, but now, I've felt that it's unusual for 2B to be thankful for receiving this reward - especially that she was quick to turn down suggestions to put
