Wouldn't it be great if you could queue orders (for multiple different unites) which are only activated when you press a hotkey? eg Alt-[number]

This would make synchronised attacks easier to organise, shifting some of the micro advantage from defence to attack. It would more realistically reflect 'attacker has the initiative' and might make for a more dynamic game.

You can sorta replicate this by queuing move orders back and forth, but this is less precise and has disadvantages too (eg moving out of cover).

"I'm a poet" - there it is,
I see the fear that's in your eyes.
"He's gonna start reciting!"
Not a difficult surmise.
Don't worry, I'm a cautious
And consensual sort of cove.
If you don't want to hear it
Then I won't unload my trove.

An awful lot is being said about the merits of the new pop growth system, perhaps a bit prematurely. One of the fun parts of a new patch is trying to work out the new meta. Here are a list of strategies/considerations I've seen suggested or tried myself. I'd be really interested to hear others' thoughts.

There are two major parts to the population growth system: planet capacity and empire capacity.

Planet capacity control

Planet capacity can be increased by the player. Planet capacity = housing + unblocked districts. The idea is that each normal, built resource district gives +2 housing, so +2 capacity, and each unbuilt, unblocked district gives <2 capacity. The amount of capacity

TL;DR Everyone knows new players love to make trenches, but don't know how to do so effectively, and that vets spend a lot of time telling them not to. To mitigate the problem, there should be ways to make trenches which don't cost upkeep.

Why are trenches bad? It's not that they're bad per se, it's that they're a double edged sword, and they cost your team resources. This makes them a bad defence:

  • Trenches provide cover for attackers, as much as they provide cover for defenders

  • Often attackers will get the 'first move', until defenders spawn in response, so in effect attackers often get to use 'defensive' trenches more than defenders!

  • Even worse, they cost your team resources (bun

I'm contemplating buying an airbrush, but I'd need to buy a mask. I'm a bit concerned that it would be the same kind that healthcare workers use - I wouldn't want to make it harder for anyone who needs a mask to get one.

Can anyone recommend a mask that would work against airbrush droplets, but isn't in demand by healthcare workers?

I love the genestealer cult's model range, but I'm not a fan of the Patriarch model. Would love to hear ideas anyone has for replacing/converting it.

I'm considering a Bladed Cog army (with lots of AdMech kitbashing), in particular, so anything with skittering robotics would be ideal.

Currently I think the general consensus is that incapacitated soldiers occur too infrequently to be relevant, or to make their retrieval really worth the investment. But the core mechanic/medic fantasy seems cool!

One way to fix this would be to increase the 'spawn' rate.

But how about giving medics a bit more agency? Perhaps medics can 'stabilise' recently injured/'killed' players, turning them into incapacitated soldiers. (Various ways you could implement this, eg if you're using a trauma kit on someone and they hit their 30sec timer or give up, they always (or more frequently) turn into incapacitated solider.)

Victoria 2 is already a game about the industrial revolution. Victoria 3 should have an equal focus on political revolutions.

The start date should be moved back to 1775, and start with the US revolutionary war. Shortly afterwards in virtually every game there would be the French Revolution. (Preventing the French Revolution should be an EU4 Byzantium-style challenge for experienced players.) This naturally lets the game include all of the famous historical figures of this period: US founding fathers, Napoleon, etc. This is a much more accessible player fantasy than the start of the Victorian era. (Robert Peel and Andrew Jackson are memorable, sure, but not in the same hall of fame as their
