Hi Reddit people!

I'm a yearly upgrader and do know the struggles each release brings with it as an early adopter but the 8 Ultra kind of freaks me out a bit more than usual.

First of all:

I do love the insane battery life in comparison to the 7, the faster charging, the antireflective coating, the easier to grip and open Halves and I love the green color! So all in all a solid upgrade for me and worth it.

BUT....

The performance has been off since day 1 with OneUi9. Up until today the Ultra performs worse than the 7. The 7 at the end of it's first year was mostly smooth as butter and well optimized.

The Ultra unfortunately has still a long way to go. I don't know if it's an issue

Got my pre-ordered PW5 only yesterday thanks to DHL...

First thing I noticed while trying out all the bands from my collection is that the connector mechanism feels a bit loose on this model in comparison to prior versions.

I'm exclusively using Google's original bands and connectors. The silicon sports band that came with the watch sits snug. But all the others have different kinds of play. Vertical, horizontal, sometimes both. It's not terrible but more noticable than all my Pixel Watches before. You can even tell when you look at the official videos and photos that were taken at Google's event that there seems to be more space!? Same for YouTube videos of reviewers.

Has anybody already tried out the Bellroy Leather Strap from the official Google Store?

Looks quite delicious in that Terracotta color way 😅.

It's a combination of Polymer and Leather. Don't know what to think about it. In Germany it's 80 Euros - so not cheap at all...

So had this topic open and closed it because it was working again for a few minutes...

Now it's broken again.

Installed the August Patch on the Ultra a few minutes ago and the prints wouldn't work instantly after rebooting. I already restarted the device and set up the prints freshly. All without success.

Located in Germany.

I already did a restart and put in the fingerprints again. It fails 95% of the time.

I got the beautiful leather skin in black for my Z Fold7 and just upgraded to the 8 Ultra. As the phones are close to identical in dimensions, I want to put the skin from the 7 to the Ultra prior to getting a new one for the new phone.

Should be possible, right? Any recommendations or tips that may help the process? Thanks!

I have the 8 Ultra in use for a week now and felt like the speakers are a little bit off.

I compared them just now to my Fold 7 and honestly feel validated. They sound a bit tinier and flatter to my ears in comparison, like a little bit echoey. They just might be a tad louder, that's it.

What about people that can compare the 2 phones out there? How do you feel?

last year I tested the GW8 40mm for a few weeks before I had to sell it due to horrible battery life. I couldn't even make it through a whole day with AoD, sleep tracking and at least 1 workout, sometimes gps but mostly without.

I'm using a Fold7 soon to be Fold8 Ultra with a Pixel Watch 4 41mm. In general I like the PW and it has nearly twice as good of a battery life as the GW8 had and a lot faster charging. Nevertheless there are some hiccups here and there with the software and compatible with Samsung.

I have a Galaxy Z Fold7, Pixel Watch 4, MacbookPro, iPad Pro and AirpodsP2 at my service currently. I'm not tied to a specific ecosystem. I choose the product that fits the intended use case. Unfortunately I've struggled with the choice of the best fitting earbud for a long time...

In general I'm quite satisfied with the APP2 in that constellation. I have to switch devices manually from time to time but mostly they switch smoothly with at least my Fold and the Apple devices. Occasionally I had issues where 1 bud doesn't turn on and ANC is wonky sometimes.

Sound is one thing where I might have an interest in an upgrade. Priorities are also ANC and Transparency. In addition I want to be able
