I know a ton you guys use Linux

People love to use 1984 or Animal Farm as arguments against socialism or communism. I thought up some arguments against both, and I want to see what other arguments are there.
1984: Why are you taking advice from porn? It's just some old man fucking a younger woman. That's already kinda weird.
Animal Farm: Yeah, I totally agree! It's such an excellent criticism of the capitalist reforms under the USSR leading to the child prostitution and mass poverty, with Russian oligarchs becoming just like American capitalists. (Our industrious capitalists, their greedy oligarchs) I actually thought this was the case when I first read it.
Animal Farm and 1984: It's a work of fiction. It's at the same
I noticed in x11 cursor themes, there's a bunch of random cursor names like 00008160000006810000408080010102 and 14 other weird hexadecimal strings. They're linked to other cursors. Anyone know what they are for?
Is is possible to use the mount command in a script to mount a specific USB-connected SSD? I want to mount a specific drive to /mnt, but since I sometimes use other USB drives, I can't just mount /dev/sda1.
Is qntm (the author) a comrade? They wrote a bunch of books I like and I saw a repost of their tweet from a few years ago that said:
Heartwarming! This 2-year-old's family couldn't afford his $20,000 electric wheelchair, and their insurance didn't cover it. So, a high school robotics team burned down the insurer's headquarters

I think it's very interesting how so many of my favorite authors happen to be left-leaning. Maybe I like the vibes they give off? Maybe the younger generation is becoming more anticapitalist?
I should preface this by saying I don't condemn Hamas because I'm not part of ISIS.
I listened to the IDF podcast when it was first released and the second episode came out recently. I want to kill myself after listening to this genocide denial propaganda.
First of all, it's fucking bullshit. They're saying the people can't get out of Gaza because Hamas is blocking the roads. PALESTINIANS CAN'T LEAVE GAZA BECAUSE OF ISRAEL, NOT HAMAS. It's an actual open air prison. They're so self-contradictory when it comes to PR. They admit to bombing a bunch of hospitals, because of missiles or tunnels or bases or whatever. Ok. Then they say they watch to make sure there's no civilians near
I installed openSUSE Tumbleweed yesterday on a new computer. After installation, I also installed mpv. It seems like mpv is missing the libplacebo.so.292 dependency. Only libplacebo264 and libplacebo338 are available in the repos, and neither work. What can I do to fix this?
I installed openSUSE Tumbleweed on my new Thinkpad E14 Gen 4 (AMD). I noticed the laptop ran kind of hot and the fan was quite loud, at least louder than my older laptop.
I looked at htop and saw a thread was at 100% usage. After some searching, I turned on kernel tasks and saw kworker and another kernel tasks was using the entire thread.
The kworker was sometimes called pm and sometimes called usb_hub_wq. I looked them up and saw two solutions:
-
Change settings in BIOS - there's really not that many options in the BIOS, and changing them didn't work.
-
Masking /sys/firmware/acpi/interrupts/XXXXX - none of them interrupted much, although one was at 38 to 40. I couldn't edit the file,
Hakim's channel has been hit with a YouTube "bug" that deleted most of his videos.
Here's how you can download ALL of a channel's videos really easily.
Linux users especially, listen up.
Get yt-dlp. It's on GitHub and probably in your Linux distro's repos. It's youtube-dl on steroids.
Run yt-dlp CHANNELLINK in terminal For example, for Hakim's channel, run [yt-dlp https://youtube.com/@YaBoiHakim/videos]
You can do this for all channels. Other platforms may also be extractable, but it's more of a hit-or-miss. I'm not backing up everyone all the time. Don't rely on me, a single person. If you have enough bandwidth and storage, please help in the effort. Not everyone needs to do it. It's
How many of you tankies use Linux?
I use Linux as well and it seems like a bunch of people in Linux subreddits also post/comment in communist/anarchist subreddits. Also it feels like half of the people, when it gets political, take up hardcore anti capitalism while the other half go full ancap.
I switched to openSUSE recently. i know it's corporation but it's so good
also can't use Arch because GitHub can't be cloned in China so no AUR
Edit: Should someone make a Commie Linux sub? I have no experience or time needed to manage one.
Status: Workaround found, in comments
I recently switched to openSUSE Tumbleweed.
Currently, I use a startx script to start my window manager i3. I installed the OS with the minimal option during installation so no additional GUI applications and desktop environments are there.
When I run startx, I get a one line error.
xauth: file /home/user/.serverauth.XXXX does not exist
The XXXX is always a random four digit number. I can get into the X environment with i3 after using CTRL+c. I can get in to i3wm, but I need to press CTRL+c after running startx.
I have tried reinstalling xinit and xauth.
How do I fix the xauth error? Thanks in advance.
