The Problem
So I get the notification that a human being is up for sale in the slave market. So I go to buy their freedom to give them the utopian abundance that is every human's birthright, but of course they have already been bought-- by whom I can't be sure. So I sit there and click where the buy button shows up and get half a dozen pops of various species. I send them all to earth; they can catch a shuttle from there to a planet of appropriate climate. Stellaris has officially become an idle clicker.

SO WHAT DO?

My suggestion is to have the slave market be an auction. A pop must be on there for a minimum of a 30 days. During that month all empires have a chance to bid i

In the Fate Condensed Rules you get one bonus stress box at +1 or +2 of the appropriate skill, and a total of three bonus Stress boxes at +3 and +4 of the skill.
I'm considering for my Fate hack the house rule of you just a bonus stress box at each rank of the skill: one at +1, two at +2, three at +3, and four at +4. In my hack, no one is getting a +5. It strikes me as much simpler and very similar. Can anyone think of a reason this might be a terrible idea?

So the current wanted system is bad, but even if it worked better I'm not sure I'd make sense for uniformed NCPD officers to hunt down V immediately such low level offenses as vehicular manslaughter. Ideally V should get a bounty like everyone else.

If the bounty gets high enough the NCPD might notice you. If it gets high enough some borked up merc should jump you in some dark alley. It should take a really high bounty before a MaxTac squad is deployed on you.

There should be several ways to lose your bounty. Doing work for the NCPD should count agianst your own bounty. It should melt away over time based on your Cool. You should be able to hack it away if you jack into the right servers

I've been playing a lot of paintball and I want to share the teniques and tricks I've been sucessful with. Two caveats:

  1. There are other successful ways to play; none of these guidelines are hard rules.

  2. Most of this only applies to Capture the Flag. Team battle is a whole different game which I'm less good at.

  3. I play in VR with smooth motion, both of which are probably necessary to pull this off

Anyway lets go!

First Rule: One Shot, One Kill

Don't fire your weapon until you are 90% sure you can hit. If you shoot early you give away your position and give them an opportunity to shoot first.

Second Rule: (Almost) Never flutter-trigger your pistol

Everyone's instinct is to pull

I'll looking for some local grown cage-free masturbatory materials today. Specifically pictures of your arches and soles. If I blow a load to your pic, I'll write you a personalized thank you. For extra orgasmic power, also tell me your thoughts on the meaning of life. I got some kinks, lol.

Let's say one went to a shoe store, took the latest kicks up to the counter, pointed a gun at the cashier and asked for 50% off. The cashier agreed for fear of his life, rung up and bagged the shoes. The "customer" leaves without injuring anyone. Did a crime occur? What would you call that crime?

Ban Tech

Suggestion

So advanced strategy often includes avoiding whole branches of tech, a building type or weapon group or what-have-you. But inevitably it will become the lowest level tech available and show up almost every time which is annoying. So my idea is unlocked by Self-Evaluating Logic a little button shows up on your research options that lets you spend 25 Influence to ban a tech so it doesn't come up again. It should then hang around on the bottom of your research options with a button to unban, again for 25 influence at which point it may randomly come up in the future.

I find it interesting that their is purported mystery to Greg's political leanings when he gives us an unfiltered expression of every political thought he has ever had through his art. Sure his work is full of irony, but the irony isn't to hide his "true political leanings" but they are an integral part of his political philosophy which I'll call for lack of a better term Jregism. There is nothing behind the mask, the mask is the thing!

It seems like a lot of people like to rush science with a bunch of research labs. And I can't lie, it's a pretty dominate strategy. But from a sheer fun perspective, I recommend trying a game where you don't bother with a second research lab for the first century or two. There are so many more fun ways to get science. First and foremost is debris. Rush supremacy, use the hit and run doctrine, and declare war on one of your superior neighbors. If you play it right, you can get several techs in both physics and engineering without losing any territory. Second source of science is primitives. While debris can give you Engineering and Physics, observing and abducting primitives can help

It occurred to me today, as I was fighting as part of a two empire Martial Alliance, that AI often looks smarter if you have some idea of what they are trying to accomplish. Now with enemies that doesn't make sense, only the most prideful enemy will tell you their war plan, but with your federation buddies it should be possible. I'm thinking once every year or six months your ally says something like: "I'm trying to take X system" OR "I'm desperately defending X system" OR "I'm focusing on Y empire's forces." Furthermore, if you are the leader of the federation or the primary attacker/defender, you're ally should come up with two or three such options and allow you to pick one (for 25 inf

Pops to Couples

Suggestion

Inspired by the performance Dev Diary, I had an idea to improve late game performance. Whenever a System Capital Complex is built (at 80 pops), every two pops will be converted into a couple. The couples will have twice the production, needs, and political pull as a single pop, and they will grow half as fast. Similarly, all buildings on the planet will be converted to have half the job slots. And to make the change clear simply have couple portraits show two individuals side by side. This will allow large planets to function similarly with half the performance demand, while new colonies are unaffected. Yet more than a performance enhancement, I think it'll make late game pop management a

The big problems with Stellaris these days are performance and AI. One drastic solution to both problems would be to simulate the AI less. This would sacrifice some level of realness for gameplay.

The first example would be trade routes and pirates. For players, trade routes are fun. You can set up patrols to level your admiral, or let pirates spawn and take them out. But the AI seems to have real trouble taking out pirates. Would much be lost if AIs just got %100 of their trade value all the time and never spawned pirates? A pirate battle on the other side of the galaxy would rarely be noticed by the player, but does use CPU resources.

Of course, the biggest performance sink is pops a
