I am just a Modern Player, standing in front of a community, asking them for some help.

I'm a daily gift giver, have lots of gifts to give. 100% open to staying friends and rising through the ranks. But also, if you're willing to just help with my lepidopterist dreams and then move on with your life, I am okay with that too.

I just got my first strop. I was using a stone to sharpen my whittling knife. But I got a nice set of gouges for Christmas (so I could try new things) and I want to keep them nice. Are there any good resources out there on sharpening different kinds of woodcarving knives with a strop? Thank you

My partner has always wanted to get into blacksmithing at home. I've always loved making things, woodworking and woodcarving and all that, so it interests me as well. We have the space in our yard and the money to get supplies and such. Our anniversary is coming up, so I thought it would be cool to get a few beginners lessons and possibly an area set up for us to make a few small things.

But seeing as I'm a complete beginner, I want to make sure I get the right information on making a backyard blacksmithing setup. Had a few issues with wrong info when I started woodworking.
