I made a mathematical error at the end of the year and I though my wife and I were both entitled to the max IRA contribution for our age ($8,000 ea). I made the contributions and immediately converted them to our Roth IRA at the end of Dec 2025. It looks like we are only entitled to contribute up to $7,000 combined. So I have an over-contribution of $9,000 roughly.
From what I've read, if I hadn't converted them to Roth, I could just ask my financial company to undo the contribution before 4/15. I've seen contrary reports if the money has already been converted to the Roth IRA. Can anyone advise how to go about this?
We are retired so I don't expect to have much earned income in 2026.
