What is the best way to approach a temp conservatorship for a hospitalized individual when foreclosure is imminent?

I’m trying to prevent foreclosure on my ex’s home. He has no next of kin or anyone willing to take responsibility. I’d only like to have temporary conservatorship to prevent the foreclosure auction of his home next month. He’s been hospitalized frequently for complications from alcoholism, and has given up. He’s single, living in roughly 5500 sq ft of living space with 7br, 2 kitchens, etc. just an extreme amount of space for one person with health issues. My statute of limitations is coming up, and I feel filing suit is the only way to start the process of getting some sort of justice.

Almost every person involved is an elected official or part of the local legal community in some capacity.

I know for certain what happened, and based off of things I directly witnessed, I believe I was set up to be assaulted in a professional environment. Based off of what I witnessed, I believe other employees were aware of what was going on and knew what was going to happen. I believe getting to discovery is the only way I can prove this, so I don’t feel like I have a choice. Is filing on my own the best option?
