Hi,

I've been working as network engineer for a few years now and want to move into security.

I'm studying for the security+ exam currently and was looking to get back into python and learn ansible for automation purposes.

Do you think this is a good start ?

Im already used to configuring firewall policies and ALC's etc for work aswell.

HI All,

When you guys are having to use previously used equipment such as old WLC's or switches, what is the best method to get onto their GUI with my laptop ?

E.g to use the service port or to have a switch ready specifically for getting these devices onto the same subnet as my laptop so i can then access them , but they might also have a previously assigned static address.

Me and a friend are currently looking at 2 bed Flats at about 280k and we're going to put down 20K each for a deposit so we'd be left with 240k to pay off at 5% interest which would equal to £700 a month for my half plus service charges which are about 1k each a year so in total after 5 years i would have paid 48k for both of those payments plus my initial deposit totaling 68k for myself or 136k combined

I also know that the first 1-10 years of the mortgage the payments i make are mostly towards paying off the interest rather than the capital on the property. So according to an online calculator after only 5 years we would still have 212k of the actual capital still left to pay as m

Hi Guys,

I've setup a L2TP/IPsec VPN which allows the user to connect without any issue and hands them an IP in desired subnet, but it does not let you out to the internet.

Ipconfig shows the below:

IPV4 Address 10.68.70.21

Subnet mask 255.255.255.255

default gateway 0.0.0.0

DNS Server 8.8.8.8

Everything looks fine except for the gateway.

I cant even ping 10.68.70.1 when im on the same subnet.

I have firewall policies setup to allow the VPN in from the WAN interface into the internal lan side and vice versa ( allowing all traffic any vlan to exit from internal interface and out t

Hi Guys,

Im trying to figure out an issue with an Avaya PBX dropping calls.

Basically a client has asked that when their office phone doesnt get answered they want the call to go there mobile instead so they dont miss it if out of the office.

I've set this up by creating a new user 399 and setting the forward unconditonal to the mobile and also changing the routing so calls now go to the new user 399.

Client said shes tested and it works but calls drop out after 30 seconds on the mobile for some reason.

Anyone come across this before or no where abouts on IP Office Manager i should be looking?

many thanks.

Hi guys, this issue has been doing my head in for ages now if someone can help id be very grateful.

Basically my as the title suggests my DNS server on my realtek pcie network card keeps automatically changing to 167.71.246.106 which rarely actually works so I'm often getting DNS could not be resolved when trying to resolve. Literally as soon as I change it manually back to 8.8.8.8 it changes itself back to that weird dns. Even on the registry it's doing it and I have no idea why.

HI guys,

just wondering has anyone here worked as a virgin media network engineer, if not any ISP network engineer.

I applied for a network engineer apprenticeship with virgin that pays a little less than im on at the moment for the first 2 years but was wondering if its worth the pay cut due to future prospects etc.. if anyone has worked for a company like this before what was your pay as a full time network engineer ?

The job states it will go up to 30k at the completion of the apprenticeship after 2 years but this still seems low for a full time network engineer and im only on a couple thousand less than that atm. So im not sure if it will be worth taking a step back for 2 years to
