IMO, Warlord, Ghost King and Lich are still the best bosses in this game. They are quite challenging to kill solo but far easier with a group. The concept that I love about them is that they have an "aggro" mechanic, where they will reliably focus whoever has done the most damage to them. This makes group-play on these bosses actually fun.
New bosses all seem to follow the design of Frost Wyvern. You're not outright griefed for participating like Troll, but there are many anti-group mechanics, little to no room to actually heal short of running out of the room, and a random targeting logic so the fight becomes way, way more difficult.
The OG bosses were designed with trios in mind, and I
Basically just title. Are there any good Fighter players who stream arena?
Randomized Dungeon was originally pitched and implemented as a way to shake up the: "Spawn in > Rush High Value Module > Win/Die" gameplay loop. Fog of war made it take longer for groups to find pile rooms and boss modules. It worked out pretty well.
Now, maps are randomized with a few exceptions of static modules, or some maps are static alltogether. However, there is no fog of war.
Personally, I think we are getting the worst of both worlds with the current implementation.
-
Without Fog of War, teams are still bum-rushing high value areas.
-
With Randomized Dungeons, the once beautifully crafted and intricate dungeon design has been totally fucked up with most interesting module conn
Basically title. I see there are a lot of new perks now, so wondering what's good to run for Squire Gear + Perk loadout?
I see Weapon Master doesn't nerf damage anymore. Do people run it with bows still?
Did not play paladin on launch and feel like I missed out because people have been saying it’s “b-tier” in the expansion.
Is anyone pushing high with paladin and if so what build?
Overall, I enjoyed my time with the campaign. However, something about the way it was written and the plot itself is just...Very strange.
First off, I don't appreciate that my character has so much emotional dialogue. He gets emotional over Lorath, emotional over Neyrelle, and emotional over Lilith. The last one is very, very strange. I don't appreciate that my character is remorseful about the events that transpire...I genuinely hate it. Please let me be a silent protag.
Blizzard seems to be on a kick lately of wanting to redeem their evil, genocidal villainesses and I don't really understand why. I don't take issue with the plot point of us needing to side with Lilith to defeat Mephisto
I've only ever dipped my toes into VGC and Competitive Pokemon one time, and that was during Sword and Shield. I was able to hit Master Rank during a later meta and it was for the explicit purpose of getting "the Rank Master" ribbon on my OG Swampert from Emerald.
I've been having a blast learning via Pokemon Champions, but I definitely feel like the customization and permanence of the game is very "lite". Here are a few things I'd like to see:
- Titles given to Pokemon that can move into other games via Achievements and Ranking. "Charizard the Great/Ultra/Master/Champion" would go hard for ranking. Something like "Charizard the Admired/Popular/Expert" would do well for usage achievements.
Yes, I know Will Powers said it's not an RPG. I know it's not marketed as an RPG. I know that many reasonable, well liked content creators continue to assert that this game is not an RPG.
Crimson Desert is absolutely an RPG whether it is intended or not.
There is an old saying: "If it walks like a duck and quacks like a duck, it's a duck." Well, Crimson Desert has all the workings of an RPG.
I see a lot of discourse surrounding this game and people claiming it is not an RPG because it is "Not Story Focused" and I really just have to disagree. There absolutely is a large focus on the story. The story is just as long as the main story of Witcher 3. You NEED to do the story to progress, as
I need to rant about the puzzles in this game. Hear me out...
There are tons of puzzles in Crimson Desert, tons. Hundreds probably. There are also dozens of different tools to use to solve these puzzles. That's all fine and dandy.
Here is my issue.
Puzzles do not follow a "logic". They have a single correct answer, and that is it. You need to solve the puzzle the exact way that is intended.
What do I mean?
8 torches are lit, 2 are not. You understand that to solve the puzzle, you must light the other 2 torches. Dandy. However, there are multiple ways to start a fire in Crimson Desert! You can ignite an arrow on one of the lit torches and fire it at an unlit torch, you can use fire magi
Not rage baiting, just an actual, genuine question to the community.
I've been playing the game for about 7 hours now, still in the first area, and I tried to take some advice I've seen here and from youtubers and just go out and explore instead of focusing on quests.
Problem is, I have not found anything interesting so far. I've found entire villages that have nothing but a single shop, a few houses with a bunch of lootable things to sell, but nothing really "exciting".
I don't think people are lying when they say they love the exploration, but I'm wondering if anyone can give some insights as to WHY they like in this game, or maybe some vague pointers as to where I should go to find so
On one hand, this game is not marketed as an RPG. The story is nonsense, there is little to no context to anything you are doing, you explore "places" that have no history or reason for existing other than being set dressing. The lore and worldbuilding is nonexistant.
And that's "fine". (Ignoring that they could have hired writers to actually write a cohesive story in the game for like 0.0001% of the game's budget)
But then you've also got a game that wants you to dive head first into an ocean's depth of tedious immersion.
Every little thing you do (and this is a game of 'little things') has an unskippable animation. To get the coins out of a looted pouch, you need to go into your invent
...Sooo, where is it?
Pallet town is obvious, though not geographically correct in favor of giving us an open sandbox. Rocky Ridges is Pewter City, and Bleak Beach is Vermillion City. What is Withered Wasteland supposed to be? Viridian?
This is just for fun, some high level ideas that I think would have made for a better plot for Midnight, which to be frank, I found a bit lacking. My main purpose here was to reframe some plot points that I think would be more fair to the legacy of certain characters, bring in characters that make more sense in certain areas, and 'show' more instead of telling. Interested to see what you all think, and I'd love to see some other ideas as well!
Prologue:
- Redo the dialogue and vibe behind the Arator/Turalyon plot. Instead of being in the right and thinking his dad sucks, Arator instead can whinge about how he's not sure he has what it takes to live up to his father's legacy. He's not sure
Lothraxian did nothing wrong, and I'll die on that hill.
He was right. Trusting Decimus is stupid and Alleria has already proven MULTIPLE TIMES that she's easy to trick and manipulate. Basically runs in their bloodline.
I didn't even like the character but it's a shame he will die for nothing because it's inevitable that Alleria is going to get tricked once again by the Void.
