As a devotee of Daily Bread and Sweet&Me I’ve come to the realisation that I need to branch out, so Auckland I need your help.
- What’s your favourite bakery?
- Do you have anything you love to get from there?
Location isn’t important as I can travel.
Inspired by a pizza post today: What’s your go to pizza place and what do you order?
What’s your favourite hot sauce and why?
Me : Culleys Lucky 13 - It has heat but not enough to ruin your meal.
Does anyone apply sunscreen if they only stay indoors at home?
I was talking to a friend about sunscreen and he casually mentions that he wears it even when he stays home.
It never occurred to me the need to apply it if I plan on staying home, out of the sun. I only ever apply it when I leave home, so I wonder if this is just a “me being ignorant” with my sunscreen usage or not?
I have pretty good skin for my age (33) but maybe I’m missing out on some preventative measures by not applying it while at home? I’m not seeing my derm until Feb and while my partner is a doctor his dermatology knowledge is pretty trash so he couldn’t give me a definite answer.
What’s everyone’s thoughts on this

So it’s been a few years since I’ve ventured down Dominion Rd for food. (I know, I know!) Since covid is over, for now, I’d like to go back and eat around down there but I don’t even know what’s good there anymore!! (use to love WangWangs, Shaolin Lung Fu and that Filipino place).
What are some of your favourite places there and what’s your go to dishes? Open to whatever cuisine.
I’ve seen a few conflicting reports about whether or not they are allowed open. Does anyone know for certain and/or has seen one open?
I’ve tried calling Furein, Soung Yueen and Lims but no one picked up, which isn’t unusual since they never answer their phones anyway.
Has anyone else noticed that, amidst the coronavirus panic, people seem to be leaving seafood alone?
This would make sense if people were only buying non perishable items, but I’ve just come back from the supermarket and 99% of the meat has been cleared out.
Possibly one benefit of being pescetarian during this global crisis? What’s it’s like for other pescetarians around the world?
(Edit: I’m New Zealand based, for what it’s worth, not that I think that has much impact on seafood consumption)
If you don’t and just rock up to a clinic you not only expose the doctors and other staff, but also the patients waiting. This means that the staff you’ve had contact with will have to go into isolation until your testing comes back which leaves less doctors/nurses etc. to take care of patients, especially in a time when they are already run off their feet with an influx of concerned people.
So please be a GC and call ahead, even if you think your symptoms are minimal, the staff have a checklist to go through and can inform you of what to do next.
Edit: Also if you see someone in a pseudo hazmat suit with a bio hazards container next to a car, speaking to its occupants, don’t rudely toot
