Hi all, my company has a manager discretion policy for PTO. I started as a level two 4 months ago, and started out at 3 weeks PTO. My manager is moving companies, and I will be given a new manager, who may not have the same vacation policy. PTO was never written down in any contract, and I expect that other new hires under different managers typically get 2 weeks PTO, some may get 3.

How can I persuade/negotiate with the new manager to maintain my current vacation time? Its pretty important to me. What are the tactics? Thanks.

Hello all, I am looking for more experienced people to calm my nerves. I got offered a great job at a level 2 and start next week for a larger aerospace company. I am very nervous about performing well.

The hiring manager has given mixed feedback on the stress and workload/expectations. I told him I am rusty in things like matlab, and he said ‘absolutely not a problem, just relearn as you go’, and ‘we dont expect a real contribution for about a year, we want to grow you into this position’. Which puts me more at ease.

But he has also said none of the job is what is taught in school, and it would be like drinking from a fire hose, and I was chosen because they wanted a self starter. Which

I am designing in Solidworks a circular insert bushing for a circular tube that is supposed to have a nominal inner diameter of about 2.7 inches. The tube has been extruded already, and its as ovular as it can get, while still remaining in tolerance (+0.02 in one direction, -0.02 in the other direction).

The bushing insert will of course have its own tolerance stack up as well. How can I design the bushing such that I get a better fit when it is inserted into the tube? Should I add small ridges to the outside of the bushing so that when it goes into the tube, they compress and form a better fit? I don't think I can design it ovular either.

Hey all, I am trying to automate a task which takes a screenshot of a satellite image from a local government parcel viewer website and saves it. Currently I am using selenium to input the location address, zoom in and then grab a screenshot of the element I zoom in on. Is there a better way to do this or is this the best method?

The biggest thing that concerns me about crypto is how fragile seed phrase security can be, in the context of compromised seed phrases. It seems there are people who fall for phishing scams, wherein they enter in their seed phrases and someone else gets ahold of them. Also, there is a possibility that a device is compromised already, and the seed phrase is stolen as soon as the wallet is created. Obviously a hardware wallet mitigates this, but this post is for people who don't have one.

So, what about implementing a (opt-in system) lock to a wallet after a recovery phrase has been entered. Furthermore, one could implement in the same system a notification suite, which sends notifications

I have always found it useful to open up an array (matrix in Matlab) to see the values in a matrix/vector when debugging. For instance, if I see a vector is just a bunch of ones and zeros, I can tell if that is the expected output or not. I am learning on Jupyter notebook, so I imagine its interface dependent. But how else do people do a rapid check of matrix values to tell if they're bogus or not?

I would like to make a pi my dedicated, as airgapped as possible staking platform (in addition to future python projects). Is anyone else doing this on a pi using either yoroi or daedalus? I was thinking I could use ubuntu to do either one, but I also heard I can't download google chrome add ons like yoroi. Thanks

For example, a graphic that tells you the steps if you want to develop a controller for a system, like first, find the dynamics of the system, put into state space if applicable, characterize the stability, choose controller type, test open/closed loop stability, add estimator, etc....

I am looking through job postings and for control jobs, I am not sure where I would even begin when they say " develops low level controller for X system". Grad school in controls was mostly about system dynamics and stability, and not much on controller design or the entire process.

There was talk towards the end of last year about some new twin cylinder models from KTM, including a replacement for the 490 in a supermoto variant. Are these still happening? I can't find any info on google. Thanks.

They say the contour plots were generated from the basis function matrices H1 and H2, how are they being generated? I tried plotting a contour plot of H1 in matlab with a meshgrid but couldn't replicated the plots in Figure 1.6. Or what is the function the contour is of? Thanks.
