Just finished S5, my thoughts

Season Five Spoilers

I was recommended Poldark and finished the show in 30 days. I loved the show despite it being relatively simple compared to Outlander which I also recently finished.

Based on this subreddit I was expecting to not like S5, but I still enjoyed it. My main gripe is that Ned and Tess weren’t even introduced until S5 AND the entire premise for the bad guys was dependent on Ross trying to help Ned and Tess being a loser.

Yes lots of character development occurred over the whole show but the whole show could have been only S5 in a way.

Other characters: Personally I liked how George turned out, he did the right thing without “living happily ever after” with Ross. Demelza, Drake, Morwenna all

Outlander books + S7

SpoilerSeason Seven

Marked as spoiler for S7 due to characters named below.

I know this ship has sailed for the TV show, but I've really enjoyed the show with the crew in America and am excited about the prospects of Fergus + Marsali, William, & Young Ian + Rachel and the Mowhawk connection. I would have loved the show to continue, slow rolling characters and shifting focus to the above characters adventures as American's started going west. Perhaps introducing connections with Daniel Boone and the Cumberland Gap. This has been one of my favorite TV shows.

Don't get me wrong, I get and love learning about the Scottish history I'm not as familiar with -- but I do think Culloden & the aftermath was very well

I work from home and sit in my office chair all day. I've noticed that throughout the day I slightly slide forward in my chair and often will sit cross-legged to keep my in a good position. Doing this has randomly put a lot of strain on my IT band and it has affected my working out and running! Can anyone suggest a good chair that will really hold my ass in place and let me sit with good posture? I'm 6'2" 180lbs, slim / athletic build and a programmer, so in my chair A LOT.

I’m not familiar with how the current Model Y became so cheap. Was it always $299 for the cheapest model? I’m looking to lease and try out an electric car but will probably buy it at the end if it works for me. With that in mind I’d prefer to go for the new version, but it’s currently for $599/mo…

Tl;dr do you all expect the new version to come down to existing prices any time soon?

Not really making a point here just posting my thoughts since it's been a joy doing this re-read with the r/WoT community.

Wow it was such an experience to read them all back to back instead of waiting for each new book to come out! I see a lot of people power through these reads but it took me about 3 years to finish the series.

Some things that stood out to me in AMoL:

  • When Egwene and Gawyn were hiding out after the Ayyad burn the command tent Egwene says something like "Light! Bryne and the Amyrlin were in there!", I think this was a subtle note that while she was so scared she reverted back and thought of Siuan as the AS.
  • Mat was the hero of the last battle. I loved it all the way

Have any developers used the M1 chip? Is the emulation fully supporting tools like homebrew and running databases locally etc?

My 2018 Macbook Air is prettyy bad and would love to get a new Macbook Pro, but don't want to get an Intel chip since they're moving away from it.

Sanderson had a tough job to do.

SpoilerThe Gathering Storm

I'm on my first re-read and have finally arrived to The Gathering Storm and wanted to share some thoughts I had.

On my first read through I remember loving Sanderson's work and thinking that it wasn't even that far off from Jordan's writing. But dang, I'm realizing now that it's soo different! Everything is different.

I think there are two reasons: The time between books -- I was up to date with the releases and didn't re-read between each release, so I had simply waited a long time before reading Sanderson's work.

On this re-read, I'm here to enjoy the world and go on adventures with my old friends. So I'm really paying attention to the nuances of each character's point of view and try

An observation about Mat & Fain

SpoilerA Crown of Swords

Halfway through Book 7 and this quote comes up from Birgitte when she confronts Mat about speaking in the Old Tongue:

> Some people speak a few words, a phrase or two, because of the old blood... But you... One sentence you're an Eharoni High Prince and the next a First Lord of Manetheren, accent and idiom perfect.

Padan Fain also falls into different accents of common tongue without thinking. He is currently in possession of the ruby dagger, and we don't yet know what's happened to him to turn him "beyond a darkfriend."

I can't remember from my first read but I'm excited to see if there are any more parallels, or what is revealed!
