I wanted to simulate a natural pause in a song's rhythm track before resuming, and the simplest way I could think of was to have a bar with a much reduced bpm before resuming the previous tempo. I wanted to have it a bit longer than a bpm of 1 afforded. Is it possible because it seemed to simply reset to the previous bpm when I tried.

I imagine this is a bit of a weird request, and there may well be a simpler way of doing this - e.g. just having bar with an additional beat or beats. I was just interested because it usually Reaper is crazily flexible about things.

I am just listening to "A World Without Love" and it occurred to me that I know several songs were given to other bands and solo singers in the 60s, while the Beatles were still a going concern. I know there's at least one that Paul wrote for Cilla Black - one for Badfinger? is it? Was there actually a small Lennon-MacCartney cottage industry providing hits (or not-so-hits?) for others? Did Harrison write any songs that were donated in this way? How did they do? I'm mostly interested in songs released prior to The Beatles breakup. Does anyone have a playlist that gives a comprehensive overview of this area?

Sorry if this is a common query, or there's a readily available answer.

I remember that someone recently posted Wombo-ed album covers. In a similar vein, these were created using wombo.art, using the "Engraving" setting (personal preference) and the name of each Beatle. Wombo.art seems to be the flavour of the month on many subreddits at the moment... apologies if this has been done before; I hadn't seen it.

I've been playing with A Search of Ice and Fire again - I can't help myself, so help me.

Of course, with this much text, the number six is inevitably going to come up quite a lot. It doesn't have to mean anything. It isn't the number six by itself that I'm finding interesting. Rather, it is the loose association between six and canines, six and red, six and women, and six and water. Below are a series of quotes (six, coincidentally!) that each combine two of those threads. They are from ASOS onwards.

A Storm of Swords - Jaime III Jaime took one look and burst into song. "Six maids there were in a spring-fed pool . . ."

I'll keep it brief. For Jamie to have a brush with a one-eyed equine incapable of fathering foals doesn't seem to be particularly noteworthy. I just wanted to draw your attention to the fact that TWICE during the course of ASOIAF he has an association with them. First in ASOS:

They made an unlikely trio; a lumbering brown plow horse, an ancient white gelding blind in one eye, and a knight's palfrey, dapple grey and spirited. ..

...The gelding come wandering up one night...

...Jaime drew the one-eyed gelding...

ASOS, Jaime II

Then again in AFFC:

They fought inside a stable as a one-eyed mule looked on, and in the cellar of an inn amongst the casks of wine and ale. They f

I have been subbed to this community for years, and enjoyed all the theorycraft and craziness. I read the prologue to AFFC yesterday, and I enjoyed it so much more than when I read it for the first time back in 2011.

The first time, I was frustrated, impatient, and didn't understand what was going on, or why it was relevant. Having hung around with you fine people for a decade, so much more subtext, potential symbolism, character work and hidden conflict is apparent to me.

You've taught me to appreciate these books, and I can't wait to get on and read the rest of my (previously) least favourite ASOIAF novel. So thanks!

But seriously. Which prince did that gauntlet of lobstered steel be

Assuming we get TWOW and ADOS, we are going to get a Trial of the Seven. I just can't see any other outcome. I'm not certain which book we get it in, but it is coming. Try to convince me otherwise if you wish.

As I see it, they have been seeded into the series by GRRM and he isn't going to restrain himself because he's afraid of making it too awesome. Oberyn vs. Gregor was quite enjoyable, I think we all agree. But what we are talking about is that TIMES SEVEN.

So this raises a couple of questions. Apologies if we have gone through this a million times before, but I don't recall seeing it recently. Namely:

  • What will be the pretext?
  • Who will be on trial?
  • Who will have their sev

Kind of a rhetorical question, because I'd be surprised if there were not. However, I just went through my mountain of unboxed KDM stuff and couldn't find any anywhere. I'm pretty sure I wouldn't have discarded them with the boxes - I went through them pretty carefully, and know bits can get hidden in the seams.

It's definitely not a Big Tragedy, but have others contacted them about similar issues and got replacements?

Thanks!

Edit: The epic conclusion to this story: I found them hidden at the back of my gear folder. Sorry for wasting your time!

If I have a survivor with the required understanding to gain the Ammonia innovation from "Marked Territory". Does it stay gained despite the fact that the survivors, all of whom were murdered in a White Lion showdown, never make it back? I think it likely they do, as their equipment makes it back despite their deaths, but it seems possible that gaining it might be ruled out on thematic grounds. I just couldn't find anything one way or the other with some searching. Thanks in advance!

So this is a pretty insubstantial post, but I'm curious. We saw a tiny bit of Laura in Episode 1 (or 2?) but so far I can't think of even the subtlest allusion to Maddy Ferguson in The Return. What is the general feeling? I don't think I've seen any discussion of her here.

Personally I think it would be really great if she did turn up in some form (presumably in the Red Room). I really like her character, and this season certainly hasn't shied away from doubles (triples in some cases!) or matters of identity.

On a semi-related note, I always liked the idea that in some draft of Season 3 in the 90s there was going to be a possible third role for Sheryl Lee as a redhead, but I'm not sure if
