The airplane seems to be hidden by the top frame of the window such that I can rarely see it. Occasionally, I’ll catch a glimpse as it spawns or despawns but I usually miss it. Is this a common issue? I’m using iOS on an iPad Air 5.

I want to test a library with multiple GHC configurations but don't have the resources to run many VMs at once. I'd like to have an arbitrary number of independent installations on each of the 3 big platforms. This way, I could test against multiple versions of the Haskell platform, the most recent versions of libraries, development versions of Haskell, etc. to ensure everything works. Are there any resources on this?
Thanks in advance.
EDIT: there have been a few respondents, so the tickets are likely spoken for.
I am giving away 3 tickets for Chantal Kraviazuk and the ESO; plans changed and I'm unable to attend. The show is tonight at 7:30 at the Winspear. The tickets are for the orchestra section.
PM me if you want them and I'll send you my phone number and address. You'll need to pick them up from me; I'm on Jasper, a few minutes east of the downtown core.
Hi r/drumming
I rented a direct-drive Mapex Raptor and hooked it up to a Yamaha KP65 kick tower. The pedal feels great but, when playing heel toe, it will often make a really loud clacking or barking noise. I think the problem is that the footboard vibrates if my foot isn't in solid contact when the beater strikes.
Is this a common issue with direct-drive pedals? Is this simply a result of poor technique? Some combination of both?
Thank you.
As a side note:
I've noticed that the Raptor doesn't like clamping on to the KP65; the clamp seems too small. I don't believe this is the cause of the noise but I'd caution apartment dwellers against this combination of gear without being able
I bought some "Natural Modeling Clay" from Dollarama for $1.25 today and I'm trying to figure out exactly what it is that I bought and how to handle it. I'm hoping to make some decorative figurines, paint them with modelling paints, and seal them with a clear coat. Any information would be a help.
On the front, it says: dries naturally; easy to shape; no oven or kiln needed.
On the back, it says:
Modeling clay is grey moist and turns white when it dries out. Clay can be remoistened and reworked by saturating dry parts. Clay is intended for moulding and scultures. To keep clay soft & moist store in an airtight container.
Other than that, it says that it's from Thailand and i
Having spent a bit of time working in a provincial government and watching federal and municipal politics, I see a continuing pattern of self-destructive behaviour. The current federal government seems to embody the issue and, since most people are familiar with it, it will be used as the example. This is not meant to be partisan; I hope that what I write will find agreement across the political spectrum, including conservatives.
Like many people, politicians want to do something big. Something really big. They want to change the course of history. However, unlike most people, they have a shot at it. It is very easy for a person to become married to a goal and to do everything they ca
Hello all.
I'm wondering if there is any software out there that teaches how to play drums. I know there are Rockband and Guitar Hero but they aren't that useful for working on techniques and timing.
Thanks in advance.
BASH seems to be a commonly used shell but it is abysmal in parameter handling. Spaces, special characters, etc. are hard to handle in a predictable manner, particularly when using BASH scripts to run other BASH scripts. I find myself writing even trivial wrappers in Ruby just so I don't have to deal with the ugly surprises that seem inevitable with BASH.
Am I missing something here? It seems bizarre that such a crucial, common piece of software would be so terrible in common use cases.
I couldn't find much info on this and thought I might turn to the fine folk of r/canada: When police seize property, do they need to provide the owner with any kind of receipt or paperwork?
Some examples:
I have a digital camera and snap pictures of an armed robbery in progress. The police seize my camera because it contains potentially useful evidence.
I have a digital camera and snap pictures of several officers arresting a person. The police seize my camera because [pick a reason].
I purchase a case of beer at the liquor store and a police officer sees me put it in the trunk of my car. I start to drive off but he detains me over and seizes the beer.
In any of these cases, must th
Who is Nerdcore and who isn't? The answer varies from person to person and from year to year. Since this place is usually pretty slow, I figured it wouldn't hurt to post a link to a group on the border.
Kemo Treats: gangsta rap, more comedy than nerdedy, but well worth the listen. I had the good fortune to see them live.
Must listen: Ranger Rick's Rulez, Straight Campin' (Intro), and Straight Campin'. Just click the little play button next to Ranger Rick's Rulez and it'll play through to the other tracks.
I started with a pair of DW 3002 pedals on a Yamaha DTX550K electronic kit and found that the linkage was too loose for my liking; it just felt floppy. I priced out another KP65 kick tower/sensor for $70 and figure that I might as well see if I could convert the 3002s into 2 separate pedals. (You'll need to do some research on kick towers if you have an electronic kit. The KP65, which came with my kit, has an in port on the back, allowing me to daisy chain 2 tog
I've just started playing and I'm having a lot of trouble trying to figure out how to configure and play my bass pedal. Unfortunately, there doesn't seem to be very much information on this basic, basic stuff; everybody has videos and articles on more complex stuff and I'm starting to feel a bit stupid.
Firstly, a little about me: I'm a little over 6' tall and around 325 lbs (diet and exercise take time for results and I'd rather practice while losing the weight than waiting). I understand how to make adjustments to my equipment but I don't know what I should be looking for in my adjustments. I'm more concerned with heel-up at this time.
When I'm resting my foot on the pedal, where shou
If proportional representation were to be enacted, would there need to be more than 1 MP per party?
In the case of a minority government, wouldn't we just be selecting a council of men and women to sit down and negotiate our future through concensus, possibly in private, than through the (semi-) open process we have now?
In the case of a majority government, wouldn't we have just installed a dictator, albeit a constitutionally limited one?
I test a lot of multimedia education software, much of it written in Flash. The single biggest sin I encounter is that of hubris, the idea that a large and established piece of software can quickly be replicated. While this is exciting, it's a quick way to a slow and painful death. The problems are 3-fold.
Firstly, if you ape an existing piece of software, people will expect similar functionality and behavior. You need to put a lot of thought into the feature set and interface or users will get frustrated when the tools they need don't behave properly. "Developer driven design" is a good way to disappoint users; ease of implementation does not translate to useful.
Secondly, the b
