The United Kingdom has 73 MEPs, divided by region. For the London region there are eight MEPs and who collectively represent all Londoners in the European Parliament.

The European Parliament has a variety of committees which debate, discuss and produce reports on their relevant topics. At this moment the "Committee on International Trade" (INTA) is producing a report on ACTA. London MEP Sayed Kamall is the current UK-London representative on this committee. A full list of the members of this committee can be seen [her

My hunters have slain many elephants. The plains around my fortress swim with pachyderm blood, my craft-dwarves are joyous at the influx of bones and my butcher's block strains under the weight of the elephantine quantities of meat.

But in my barracks some idiot dwarves keep going to the containers where I am hoard my ammo, armour and weapons and dropping all the elephant goodies they are carrying. The elephant entrails eventually go rotten and miasma spills across my barracks and sometimes out into adjacent rooms.

I know there are good and effective ways to make miasma-free garbage dumps, but I was wondering what I can do to stop the food-dropping from occurring in the barracks to begin w

I decided I'd like to try something a little new.

I don't really know where to start where it comes to art. Whilst I have visited some of the larger galleries in the city I imagine there must be a great many smaller galleries, for artists both living and dead.

For example, I came across mentions of this gallery near Kings Cross that is in a crypt

So whether for the art itself, or for the novelty of the location, I'd love some recommendations on interesting galleries to visit, or even suggestions on how to get into the loop for art world events.

Any ideas?

Edit: These are some great suggestions, guys - thanks!... and keep 'em coming!

I recently discovered that 'Alt -' and 'Alt =' decreases and increases the frames-per-second limit in Dwarf Fortress. The default is around 100fps, I believe. By turning up the FPS you can speed the game up, essentially allowing dwarves to take more steps (/perform more actions) within a given amount of real-world time.

Whilst my games often start getting laggy once I have dozens of dwarves, tons of ducklings and a variety of liquids sloshing around on my map, during the early-game my computer can run DF quite quickly.

I have found speeding up the game up to be especially useful early on, when there is so much digging and construction to be done. Though I do have to be careful that my mas

After plenty of fun I finally have a fairly stable fortress about 70 beards strong. While I have previously scrabbled around with the odd proficient fighter when needing to repel small goblin attacks (and one utterly confusing buzzard swarm that fed my dwarves through the following winter) I now find myself wanting a well equipped and properly trained military.

I have a few dwarves with appropriate skills, but my question is this: If I tell a peasant with no marketable skills (and certainly no military skills) to join a squad and start training... will that training still earn them experience?

Normally my dwarves require to at least be dabbling in a given labour for them to begin accruing

Hey r/London,

My Soho workplace just sent round an email at 11:30 telling us that Police have informed them that there is a shooting in progress on Oxford Street, possibly with multiple gunmen.

I don't wish to be alarmist, but in case this is true - please be careful if you are in the area.

If anyone knows anything about what's happening, please let us all know!

EDIT:

I just had another email through claiming that it was a Police training exercise. Anyone else?

EDIT2:

False report? Yes! Hoax? Probably! Police training exercise? Erm, okay, but wh.. Conspiracy/cover-up/mystery? Almost definitely.

Apologies for posting a false report, r/London. Couldn't sit by and not share though,

Hey Londoners

I've recently found myself with an extra evening or two free each week, and am hoping to be able to put them to good use. As most nights are bitterly cold now, I was thinking maybe getting involved with soup kitchens or other provisions for the homeless, if there is a need for volunteers.

Are any of you involved in some volunteer work (large or small) like this that could use an extra pair of hands? Or perhaps someone simply knows of a project that I can get in touch with?

Much appreciated.

Edit: Just wanted to say - thanks for the response guys! I'm going to see if I can get involved with a Crisis Christmas centre and lend a hand. :)
