I've been having this odd issue in a recent reinstall. Every other time, the game hangs at the first loading screen on boot. I can still hear audio, but I can't even access the main menu. I have to alt-tab out and close the program from the task manager, and once or twice it wouldn't even let me do that. But it only happens on alternating times. So the first time booting up, it works fine, then I quit, then load up again and it does it. Next time is fine. Next time not. And so on. Every second time, without fail.

Fresh install on a new computer, followed VNV to the letter, Steam install, all overlays (that I know about) turned off, run as admin, up-to-date drivers, etc.

Dunno what to do

Hello! I'm just getting into Degenesis and I've only just scratched the surface so far, but I'm having trouble imagining what a conflict between Cults or Cultures would look like in the setting. The tech levels are all over the place, from barely-medieval to the black powder firearms of the Judges to the Tomorrow AD assault rifles of the Hellvetics. Horses vs. dune buggies. Starship Troopers vs. the Gauls. That sort of thing.

So what would the orbat look like in a hypothetical general conflict? Modern small unit tactics? Pike and shot? The Zulu War? Something else?

Thanks in advance, and apologies if this is already answered somewhere. Like I said, I'm only just scratching the surface.

Mariner City, capital of Mars, 2665. The Red Planet has been successfully colonised for nearly four centuries now, depending on how loosely you define "successful." Mariner City is, as the name might imply, within Valles Marineris, most of which has been domed over and paraterraformed. A shallow sea now dominates the center of the valley. MC is actually a conurbation between four original dome colonies which predate the paraterraforming of the valley - the original Mariner City dome, New London, Rodomir, and Pioneer City. When Mariner Valley as a whole was domed over and the air pressure got high enough, it allowed these thr

Hello. I'm currently running Hot Springs Island using XP for Gold to level up. However, I'm having a hard time aligning how much XP my players should get for their swag.

The advice in SWN is 5000 credits for level one, doubling every level, but how does this translate to WWN's copper/silver/gold economy? Better yet, are they any guidelines for a good gold/XP exchange rate just in general, in case I missed it? WWN only lists per session, goal-based, mission-based, and spending-based XP, at least as far as I can see.

Much obliged for any assistance.

Maybe this is dealt with in the core book and I missed it, apologies if so, but say someone has Level 1 of Healer and also level 1 of Specialist and chooses Heal for their specialist skill, how would you deal with that seeming redundancy? Would you count Heal as a combat skill, so it doesn't apply? Or would you give them 4d6, which seems slightly OP?

Cheers in advance.

I mean, it seems pretty logical to me, but I had a player react in a really negative way when I said that, so I decided to pose the question here.

Note, I mean would want to play in, not, actually want to play in. I'm staunchly anti-DMPC. But what I mean is, if there's nothing about the campaign that doesn't intrigue, enthuse, or excite me in any way, if I'm totally running against my own preferences, then just running off my players' fun is going to get old fast.

I dunno, maybe I'm way off here. I'm prepared to be proved wrong.

Thoughts?

Edit: To clarify, I'm not addressing aspects like system or specific mechanics. I'm more speaking to tone and atmosphere.
