I currently run one main sole trader business (music related) and another, smaller sole trader business (visual art). Up until now I have used the same bank account for both and just kept a note of what transactions belong to which for self assessment etc. Turnover isn't huge amounts.
For MTD I am opening a new account with Mettle and going to use Free Agent. The issue I have is I can only open 1x Mettle account so am going to use it for the main business. I have spoken to Mettle and they say I can't have more that one account with them so what is the best way to set things up here for future MTD?? Should I use Mettle for main account and a different bank for the smaller business and use F
I’ve spoken with a couple of people recently about alcohol, the issues associated with it and how it affects us.
One person firmly believed that alcohol itself isn’t really the problem. It is just used as a cure or solution to whatever problems or issues we have already.
The other person believed that it was consuming alcohol regularly that led to most of his problem, physical, emotional and spiritual ie alcohol itself was the root cause.
I’ve been thinking about this a lot. I think certainly alcohol is used as a temporary solution to some problems but are those problem always pre-existing problems or are a lot of them caused by regular alcohol use?
What is everyone’s take on this?? I
6 months sober. I don’t miss the alcohol too much now. I can go out with friends and feel okay with not drinking even if they are.
However, I thought the anxiety + depressed mood would have disappeared by now! I certainly feel some health benefits, especially physical health, but my mental health seems to be getting worse. Maybe it’s because my head is no longer in the sand and I’m realising how much time I’ve wasted and all the work I’m going to need to do to sort my life out now?
Has anyone had any success with doing a deep clean of a communal stairwell that has that fake marble like surface common in many Edinburgh tenements? I’ve tried hot water with diluted floor cleaner etc but it doesn’t seem to clean deep enough. Perhaps some acid cleaner or similar? Thanks
I have been sober for 6 months after steady drinking for years. I don’t think I was an alcoholic but I drank maybe 4 nights per week (5 or 6 pints per night) and occasionally more.
I have felt some benefits from stopping including losing weight and feeling overall healthier. Recently though I seem to have sunk into a severe depression and have anxiety, racing thoughts etc. I’ve read about PAWs (Post Acute Withdrawal Syndrome) and wonder if anyone has had any experience of this?? I initially thought it only applied to recovering from severe alcoholism but now I’m thinking this might be the issue I’m having.
My doctor has suggested going on SSRIs for a while which might help me get through
I’m on week 2 of taking ssri medication and my anxiety is through the roof- it’s hard to sleep, I have constant worrying thoughts, sky high anxiety, etc.
I’ve read this can happen but for how long? I’m not sure I can keep going on with this constant brain fog/constant anxious thoughts for weeks… Does anyone in a similar situation remember how long these things went on for?? I know everyone is different. I just wondered about others experiences. Thanks
I started 20mg of Citalopram 11 days ago and have been having feeling of extreme anxiety since. It has calmed a bit but I’m fixating on worries and creating new ones and these thoughts just repeat all day in my head. It’s driving me crazy that I can’t switch off from it.
I’ve read the first few weeks can be difficult and it can increase anxious feelings but I don’t know if these are things I need to be worrying about to this extreme or if it’s just getting used to the drug.
How do you cope with these feelings of anxiety?! I really hope this starts to get better soon
I stopped drinking alcohol 2 months ago after realising drinking was causing a lot of damage to my life and to my physical/mental health. I used to drink a few nights a week over the course of 20 years and noticed I was really drinking to excess too often in recent times.
I thought I’d be feeling much better 2 months in but all I feel is anxiety and depression. My thoughts do seem clearer but I just ruminate about past mistakes and worry about the future. I can’t tell if this is just part of the process or if I will feel like this forever. I understand why people go back to drinking as this feels awful and I’m finding it very difficult to deal with although I’m trying to keep going.

It’s been 2 weeks since I quit alcohol and I thought I’d feel better than I do right now. My mind feels clearer and the ‘no hangovers’ is great but…
I have started getting crippling anxiety, strong feelings of guilt and regret about the past- all the arguments, all the hurt I caused, all the stupid things I said to people. I can’t stop this constant ruminating and worry about everything. I don’t know if I’m being rational or irrational ie I don’t know if I should genuinely be worrying like this so much or if it’s my brain adjusting? It feels awful.
The past is the past and can’t be changed but is this normal to have all this anxiety and guilt?! Going back to drinking just now would be the

Why is improve my so difficult?! I’ve improved my fitness, taken up exercise etc and every thine it seems I’m getting somewhere something pulls me back to binge drinking more than ever which is followed by days of doom. It seems like it’s 2 steps forward and 3 back. This is leading me to despair. Why is it so difficult to make permanent changes. I can’t stop ruminating about the past when all I want do is work on improving myself. Has anyone else experienced this? Thanks
I lost one of my remote car keys and managed to get it back but I’m not sure where it’s been and it could well have been in the hands of some less than trustworthy people (who have my address). I have another key for the car. Can I somehow get the keys reprogrammed incase the key I lost has been cloned?? Would I need to go to a dealership? Thanks!
Does anyone know how I can ensure my old car actually gets scrapped? I have received a gov grant to scrap it which requires a Certificate of Destruction. If I sell it to a scrapyard how can I ensure it actually gets scrapped and not resold?
