I first became aware of journaling, writing and stationery subscription boxes on this board when the Well-Inked Box giveaways were ongoing last year. Now I'm thinking about trying some such subscription and have found several I like the look of. However, before I take that step, I'd like to ask if any of you are using or have used such a subscription, and how you like(d) it?
Edit: I made a comparison in price and content between several services. The ones that ship from the USA have pretty high postage on top of the subscription (I'm in Iceland), so I ended up picking one that ships from the UK. It's called ScrawlrBox. I'll receive the first one in about a month and will report back once I
At the end of last year I decided to start writing a daily life journal, something I have only ever done for short periods before (I am first and foremost a travel journaller). I‘ve found a format I‘m happy with, but to add some variety I decided to try out some journalling prompts.
Google yielded more than 6 million hits, showing just how popular the subject is, but I kept to the first search page and gathered up some 600+ prompts from various blogs and websites and inserted them into a spreadsheet. I‘m using a random number generator to pick one per day, because I found that some of the lists had very similar or themed prompts and I wanted variety. Some are repeats, just using different
I came across this definition of the difference between a diary and a journal:
„A diary is mainly used to write things you would like to remember - daily activities, how the day was spent, what was done, the daily routine and anything that needs to get done. A personal journal is a record of significant experiences. It is much more personal than a diary. It contains feelings, emotions, problems, and self-assurances and can be used to evaluate one’s life. For a journal, one does not just record one's experiences but also thoughts, feelings and reflections. Diary writing is a daily activity but one can write in a journal whenever there is a desire to write about significant experiences.“

The EST Congress in Aarhus in 2016 was the first big translators' event I attended (after about 10 years as a professional translator), and I found a number of the presentations and lectures to be interesting and useful, but I think the best thing about it was coming into contact with other translators and hearing about their views and experiences.
Do you attend such events, and what do you find to be the most useful thing about them? Are there any particular ones that are held regularly that you have found to be more useful (and fun) than others?
Edit: A word.
