I recently left a job where I had access to a wonderfully-equipped radio workshop. Now that I've left, I've been thinking a lot about making my own workshop for repair or manufacturing projects at home. I don't have a space I can dedicate to this, however, so I've been dreaming about a fully-equipped workspace that folds up into an armoire-, or cupboard-like shape. I want something not portable, per se, but moveable, that I can have in a spare room and fold up neatly when not in use; and move easily to a new home.

I've seen a few portable workspaces that are suitcase-like, but they require a separate bench and don't really fit any test equipment.

I came across this [very interesting design

Not sure what I'm after here, except to see if anyone else has seen the same thing.

My power is shit. It's above-ground, and we can get outages regularly.

My poor NAS has been subjected to a few of these, so I bought a crappy UPS from the local electronics store. I would've got a good one, but no locally.

Well, it was fine for a time, but eventually, after another outage the UPS itself died. It wasn't the battery - I had replaced that not long before. It just refused to supply the load, despite it being well below the rating, and no changes to the load either.

So everything went out. When power finally came back on, my SSD cache was corrupted. No worries, I don't write to it often, so no

The printable area wizard is no longer accepting margins that are not whole numbers. I set the top and bottom margins for A3 at 4.5 mm a while ago, but now AutoCAD is resetting these to 5mm.

The template that this was set in still looks as I set it (4.5mm) on-screen, but as soon as I export to PDF or plot it changes. I try to re-set the margins to 4.5mm, but as soon as I click next and back in the wizard it changes!

It's been a while since I set up the template in the first place, and it's been a while since I last used AutoCAD, so I don't know if I changed anything.

What the hell is going on? It's driving me crazy!

Edit: What the fuck, it's happening on clea

I can enable it on a machine running ESXi with a compatible Intel processor, but I can't get it going on my Proxmox VE system with an AMD 3700X.

I'm guessing I start with nested virtualisation, which I followed, but my windows guests don't see any difference. I can't even see "+svm" in the process' command line in htop.

Enabling memory protection after following that wiki page on my Server 2019 guest, and rebooting does nothing - the option is off again in Windows Security.

Enabling memory protection in my Win10 guest and rebooting causes it to BSOD with "CRITICAL PROCESS FAILED" (from memory).

EDIT: I realised I needed to have a sepa

Half awake this morning, I thought today would be a good day to get an Opal card and go for a trip.

Then I fully woke and realised I live in North Queensland. ಠ_ಠ

Playing the Tron soundtrack on Spotify, I noticed some horrible distortion in loud sections. Most obvious at the climax of "Rinzler". I swear that wasn't there when I listened a few months ago. I thought it was my new computer setup, but no, it's also happening on my phone. The quality setting has always been set the highest it will go.

Anyone else?

Edit: Just tried other songs. Lots of loud Muse pieces didn't distort, neither did the loud parts of Vivaldi that I played. Looks like it's just the Tron soundtrack has been boosted past the point of clipping. Again, I swear it wasn't like this a few months ago.
